Great from you Antonio to address this topic since 99% of men who think that tbey are cool without tie, wear bad collar shirts. The thing is that you CAN WEAR the suit & shirt without the tie, but you CANNOT ROCK in formal suit with shirt without the tie. There are numerous arguments for this, from not looking that sharp on one side, all the way to disobeying particular geometry and proportion requirements that are related to the sequence of the jacket lapels and the shape of the shirt collar, yet quite important for the general appearance. The story is completely different with rollnecks or sporting the separate jackets and trousers with quality collar shirt.
@MrDanielWP3 жыл бұрын
1. Absolutely every suit can be worn with no tie. The key is if it's part of the dress code, such as black tie or white tie. 2. Spread collars look better than point collars with no tie. But, point collars are fine tie-less. 3. Single-breasted jackets usually look better with no tie, than double breasted. Single breasted also looks better when unbuttoned. One of my favorite looks is a charcoal, light-grey pinstriped, two-button, single-breasted suit, with a solid medium gray vest, white spread collar shirt, and presidential fold white pocket square. Try that combo and tell me it isn't sexy.

I actually think you can pull of a pinstriped suit without a tie hell I pulled off a 3 button black pinstripe suit with a blue striped shirt with a contrasting white collar (something you would always wear with a tie) with a white fedora and ill be damned if I didn't get compliments left and right. I know I looked kinda like a mob boss but it definitely gave me confidence. I rock that look all the time! but if you're just starting out this is definitely the advice to follow keep it simple.

Do you think Navy and Brown pair well together? or are they opposites? I see so much debate on this particular topic and also just curious so I know which Chinos I purchase next. My Dress shoes are shades of Brown one being Tan and the other Cognac to be more specific. The Navy Chinos are dark resembling Black so not sure if it pairs well. Appreciate the video by the way very helpful!

@@RealMenRealStyle Even if the Navy pants look Black it would still work with brown shoes? Thanks for clarifying! Takes away the doubt now and makes my purchasing decision easier. I may also look into an Ivory pair since out here it gets extremely hot.

Navy and brown is an absolutely killer combo in my opinion, I wear it a lot. A kind of tricky thing to do is pair the right navy with the right brown: the shades of the two colors should be similar. So dark brown with dark blue and light brown with a little bit lighter blue (you'll probably find this concept here on KZbin)
@Am_b0b3 жыл бұрын
@@Manuel421 even black pants can work with brown shoes, if the rest of the outfit is right (definitely no black suit, and try to work some other earthy tones into the outfit). So of course brown and even a very dark navy would work together easily. Also the other way around, a pair of blue suede brogues would look great with ivory chinos!
@Manuel4213 жыл бұрын
@@Am_b0b Thank you I'm glad others agree that it looks completely fine. Also my brown shoes are lighter tones like Cognac and Tan so I'm sure that it wont look mismatched at all. I remember also wearing Black jeans with my loafers and I was happy with the outfit as well. These responses make my decision of purchasing Navy chinos way easier so thank you for your valuable insight. For shirts I keep it simple White, White with Blue mini Grid pattern, Lavender, Light Blue, and a Grey Chambray which is also appropriate for warm weather. Not sure if I should add a checkered or bold stripe later on but your feedback is appreciated. Out here most of the year it is hot so Ivory is definitely helpful along with Tan and regular Blue Chinos. Both of my trousers are also suitable for warm weather so everything is extremely versatile.

4:24 Dress pants this baggy is also a clothing sin. They don't have to be slim fit or tapers but this is straight up unprofessional even in a casual setting. However, you can get away with these pants IF you wear a dress cowboy boot because the shaft of the boot takes up the inside space rather than letting it flap around.

Great tips but still don't like the vocal delivery. I'd say no to that button neck sweater as you are adding more buttons to an unbotton shirt look, I suggest sticking with a V neck sweater, or crew if you need to cover up more. The turtle neck is excellent in the fall but is more a look of it's own than a no tie look shirt. Pocket square yes, not so sure about the lapel pin.

@Am_b0b3 жыл бұрын
@@davorpapac858 so you click on a video about wearing a suit without a tie, then you go this far down into the comment section, only to tell someone they're not a "true gentleman" if they suggest a suit can be worn tie-less. What's your goal here? And that "boss taking your tie" shit flies well over your "true gentleman" nonsense. I don't mind sitting here arguing 1 button vs 2 buttons, but for you to come around and dictate what a "true gentleman" would do is quite a stretch, wouldn't you say?
@Treron_Sinclair3 жыл бұрын
@@Am_b0b Umm, I think the OP did agree with the "goal is to be casual and relaxed, so make it casual and relaxed." He even said 1 button undone was OK, but just disagreed with the 2 buttons. And so do I. He didn't mention anything about "your boss forced you to skip the tie" scenario. 2 buttons undone looks trashy, not 'casual'. That would never fly in the office I work in. I would be told to fasten the 2nd button, and I would tell my subordinates to fasten that 2nd button on casual Friday. It's still an office, not a gas station. Going to the mall? Go ahead, let open that 2nd button, but you will be judged by those more professional, experienced and senior than you. As for the debate with @Davor Papac, it seems clear to me that he is behaving more of a gentleman than you are. You must have misunderstood his English (judging by his user name, English is his second language) as he states that he would prefer to skip the jacket/formal shirt, to be casual, which by your own words still keeps "The goal is to be casual and relaxed, so make it casual and relaxed." His method is also acceptable in a casual setting. You can still wear a tie and be casual. Just because the title of the video is about NOT wearing a tie to be casual, does not mean we cannot all discuss how we like to be casual in other ways. Your dedication to the title may be firm, but it is not admirable amongst your peers. Lighten up, and be open to others' opinions of casual dress, regardless of the videos title. The comment sections are all about discussions and opinions, and you're going to come across different opinions than yours. Your reactions are far from 'casual' thus far, and seem highly unprofessional, and unworthy of the gentleman title. "For you to come around and dictate what a "true gentleman" would do is quite a stretch, wouldn't you say?" . "And that "boss taking your tie" shit flies well over your "true gentleman" nonsense." I don't care if you're offended by this either to be honest. You won't get another reply from me, as I don't deem you worthy of it. So go ahead, cry and complain all you want. Get over yourself.
@iansoutryer31893 жыл бұрын
I am surprised, when skipping the tie the most obvious choice was not even mentioned: wearing a CRAVAT (ASCOT) instead. It's less formal than a tie, but it does not leave the neck uncovered, no worries about leaving one or two buttons unclosed and whether the T-shirt underneath is visible or not. Instead it adds colour, texture and pattern. Ideal.

Part of being fashionable is understanding the environment you're going to. If you're at a tech company where it's full of engineers that wear t shirts, coming in with a full suit and tie makes it look like you're trying too hard, and that will lose you respect. Where as the suit without the tie gives you authority and respect but doesn't come off as stuffy or like you can't read the room. I work with a lot of tech CEOs and business owners and most of them prefer the polo look, and the VPs go with the suit without a tie. Because remember, the rule is to dress appropriately for the occasion or being one step higher in formality. Anything higher than that makes you look worse. For instance, you wouldn't dress up in a suit just to go to McDonald's or Walmart. It's tone deaf. You gotta know how to dress up AND dress down.
@iansoutryer31893 жыл бұрын
@@i9incher For one I don't want to be fashionable - but STYLISH. And I don't have a problem with being the best dressed man in the room. Shame on others if they prefer to wear T-Shirts - some 15 or 20 years ago it would have been unthinkable. And there's always the option of wearing a cravat(ascot) instead of a tie: less formal, but it does not leave the neck unvcovered, and it adds texture, colour and pattern - but interestingly enough this wasn't featured in the video. (And I don't go to McDonald's. :-)
