I like it that you don't feel the need to bronze or contour for every makeup look.. You use makeup as something for skin.. Instead of using your skin for something to put all the possible makeup on.. You're really inspiring.

@HollyRamblesOn if your lips are particularly dry, avoid the long lasting pencils all over the lips as, although they stay on better, they are more drying. Instead just use it after lipstick application as a shape corrector and blend over the colour so it looks natural x

This is so inspiring! I've been somewhat collecting darker lipsticks because I find them beautiful but I always end up not daring to wear them because every time I put one on, I kind of slap it on full-force, it looks incredibly dark and I chicken out. I'll try the dabbing on technique tomorrow!

I always dab them on with either the lipstick itself (very carefully/gently tapping it on the lips)or with one finger. And it actually makes them stay on better, especially if you dab just a tiny bit of powder on top of it☺

So I bought the YSL lipstick and wore it yesterday and it all looked great until I added the blush. I forgot what Lisa said about the blusher being in the same family colour as the lipstick and wore a peachy one which was awful. I quickly cleaned that off and switched to a light pink one which made all the difference. Thank you Lisa for all your explanations, shows how the tiniest detail can make or break a look.

Great tutorial Lisa! I have fair skin with blonde hair & very light blonde eyebrows, I find this look suits me really well. I find it difficult to do a strong eye look though with my eyebrows. I used to tint them but this this resulted in me looking a little too Joan Crawford for my liking. I've just found your channel and love it. This video is especially helpful for me because I am super-pale, and I've kept away from trying dark lips because they turn out too extreme for my taste. Should I counteract and hide my natural pink flush? I’m not talking about blemishes or dark circles because I know I have to get rid of them for sure when applying makeup. Great tutorial, thank you! I’m quite pale but I have a lot of contrast so these darker lipsticks look best on me, even in the day, especially the stain. I struggle with nudes and pinks (browns and oranges are a total no go for my colouring) because they make me look washed out or give me that over-made up fleshy pout that’s so popular these days, but I don’t like the way it looks on me. So for me usually it’s berry stain, full on darker lip (cooler or neutral red, such as Chanel lip stylo in Message, Mac Rebel etc) or just gloss on my natural lips that looks best. Good to see Clinique’s Black Honey mentioned, a very clever lip colour, really works well on most lips I think.

If your lips are on the thin side, there is a subtle white line outside of your natural lipline, you can fill this in with the lipstick which will make them look fuller and use concealer above your cupids bow. A slighter darker shade just on the corners of your lips will also give you a fuller looking lip and should get rid of the 'mean' look :)
