I have seen KZbinrs who hike on trails for long distances, and they frequently use gaiters. An example would be Darwin on the Trail. He uses dirty girl gaiters as do many of the hikers. These are much better for thru hikes as they are smaller than the ones shown in this video.

@@bawafromthehills yeah I tried and it works. They keep the off your ankles and legs. But if it's hot you might get really sweaty in the gaiters

I thought gaiters are also to walk through like nettles and thorny brush with protection for the legs, so, those velcro only shutters look badly designed

Well, I, somebody who has winter hiked a handful of times in the whites, thought it funny that the belt portion does go under your shoe. I imagine this contributes to wearing out the belt a lot unfortunately. Was hoping that wasn’t the case but oh well
