Check out part 1 here: • Dyeing Handspun Yarns ...
Traveling inlay, meandering thread, traveling treasures, squiggles.. This weaving technique goes by many names, and you may have seen me use it in my videos/projects before! In this video, I show you how to do this super simple weaving technique using my own handspun yarns, which were dyed with Japanese Bengala mud dyes.

SUPPLIES 🌸
○ Yarn: Unknown, undyed white wool that I got second-hand from a lovely friend, approx 2 pounds spun into roughly chunky-weight yarn on my Louet s10c spinning wheel and "NZ Mohair Craft" Kid Mohair, one package (6 total balls), also second-hand
○ Dyes: Bengala Mud Dyes made by Kosyokunobi, a small family-owned company in Osaka, Japan. I purchased these dyes at Saorinomori in the colors K-5 (yellow), K-8 (purple), and K-9 (orange). You can learn more about these dyes, where to buy them, and find detailed dyeing instructions on their website: www.kosyokunobi.com/English%20.... (this is not sponsored, I just love these dyes!)

Andrea, this is fabulous!!! Thank you so much for sharing!! Here's my question - what do you do when you reach the end of your supplemental warp? I'm guessing the random nature means that you see the end of the yarn before your project is finished. Just curious how you approach that!
@AndreaAlexander
@AndreaAlexander 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so so much!! 😃💕 For this project, whenever I was getting close to reaching the end of one of the supplemental warps, I would untie it from the back of the loom, unthread the heddle and reed, and bring it back to the front. That way I could keep making squiggles or just tuck it in to my next row! I hope that makes sense 😅

Very nice! As a impatient beginner weaver, I took the advise all weavers gave me. That is to start with samples. My 'sample' happens to be the beginning of a 2 44" × 72" long blanket (6 yard warp). Ha! Problem is, after denting and learning how to remove too many extra heddles. I noticed that one bundle of 100 ends wasn't chained properly and I pulled them out of the dents. A few seconds later, I realized I lost the cross! I am guessing I need to thread them individually now huh? Any advise? Since one end is cut, I cant re-warp; right? LOL
@AndreaAlexander
@AndreaAlexander 3 жыл бұрын
Oh no!! I’m so sorry you’re dealing with that! if I’m understanding the situation correctly, I’d guess the best option might be to go ahead and deal with each thread individually, but I’m not sure because I’m not super experienced with troubleshooting warping! Are you on a SAORI loom? If you are totally stuck you could maybe call a SAORI studio and see if they’d be willing to FaceTime you and help! I know Mihoko of SAORI Worcester does private zoom classes where you can ask questions like that. She would definitely know a lot more than me! I’m sorry about that, good luck!! 😭😭😭

@@AndreaAlexander thanks so much for your advice. I struggled through it. Made every mistake in the book and some that arent even in a book! Lol It's great really, I now have insight on mistakes, a deeper level so to speak and will avoid them at all costs next time. I am so glad no one actually saw the mess! Happy weaving! LMAO

Using mohair weft was something I'd not considered, I thought it might snap or fuzz too easily in front of the heddle
@AndreaAlexander
@AndreaAlexander 3 жыл бұрын
It's a little risky, but because the rest of my warp was cotton, I wasn't super worried about it snagging too badly! If my warp was made of fuzzier/stickier yarns, I probably wouldn't have used the mohair.
