I have never ridden a bike before this (dirt bike or street bike) and I have always really liked the idea of doing wheelies but was just too much of a pussy to try them lol but this video helped a lot. I started off only raising my wheel off the ground like an inch or two at first but a month after watching this and a lot of practice later I can ride a wheelie out the length of 3 telephone poles. I'm still trying to improve on it but your video helped so much. Thanks man.

Thanks! I had a 1996 gsxr 750 10 years ago and I was able to ride out first gear wheelies until the rpm died. Friends said that was far more dangerous because being in first gear and having so much power and slow speed to balance. It was the only way I could do them, got very comfortable doing them like that. Here iam years later and I just bought a 2005 gsxr 1000. Thanks so much for the safe instructions and excellent explanation on how and why. I'm going to practice after getting a little more familiar with this bike. My riding confidence is coming back more and more every ride. Awesome video and much appreciated.

I assume you have an R6? What revs did you build up to before letting the clutch out? 4-5k as mentioned in this vid seems too low for my R6 (-2 front +1 back) ... Hardest part seems like getting the right throttle control while you have the clutch in, I need to practice that to get my muscle memory up to snuff and keep my ears in tune.

So far I've found the hardest part is finding a place isolated enough to practice. I live on the fringe of the Jacksonville metro area and found a couple of good roads. They were open and straight but still had the occasional car. Now on the other hand, this one road made the perfect spot to try out the Roush without the traction control on. Now that was a success!! Search will continue for a wheelie practice spot. Great video BTW! Dankwheelie - dude, I am workin on it! LOL

I had a zx6r loved that fucking bike but crashed out in Philly one night because some asshole needed a cab..and got a H-D xl1200Custom Sportster..Age calms a man down.Would rather cruise through the canyons instead of trying to conquer them. Finally somebody shows the actual motion and hand speed to do this. It's the throttle and clutch pop at the same time. Other ones I've seen they say pull clutch in throttle let clutch out...it's all one motion with both hands. So I have a heavy bike, ZRX1100, what would you do differently, it's a bastard to get the wheel up.

what to do exactly with the rev break? Do you instantly touch it when your front wheel went off the ground or earlier or later?
@zelo54994 жыл бұрын
When you start to go back and about to hit the ground
@emilygooden67393 жыл бұрын
Probably 5 years too late, but for anyone still wondering: the rear brake is essentially a fail safe if you get the wheel up too high too fast. It’ll slow the back wheel and force the bike out of the wheelie, instead of letting you loop out and losing the bike. So basically, if everything goes perfectly, you should never need it at all. But in case you give it too much power and go too far back, you can just set the wheelie back down with the rear break.
@HarleyRidinF00L3 жыл бұрын
@@emilygooden6739 excellent write up, dead on.
@BikesAndBatallas2 жыл бұрын
@@emilygooden6739 Yup. And people can practice this on bicycles as well if they're nervous. I've been riding motorcycles since I was a child, but finding the balance point on pavement always made me anxious. So I started doing manuals on my downhill/BMX bikes, which allowed me to figure out what it means, in practice, to find the balance point (which is usually much further back than you feel it could be) in more controlled settings. It also allows you to practice abandoning the attempt by using your rear brake to pitch your nose back down. And if you loop out, which you're more willing to do on a bike, the risk isn't as bad.

There is a much easier way to get your front wheel up so you can get used to that strange feeling. In 1st gear get up to between 6K-7K rpm then snap the throttle off then on and your wheel will lift, it wont be anything spectacular but you'll still get that wheelie feeling then you can introduce the clutch to get the wheel a bit higher and chase it out better. bigger bikes will need less revs and less of a snap smaller bikes will be the opposite and might need the aid of a quick stomp on the rear brake to compress the front and just time the snap of the throttle with the front suspension rebound. For a reference my bike is a 2019 CBR650R, will also help if your tyres are warm before attempting this. Hope this helps some of you guys, it worked for me first time i've been struggling with the timing of the clutch release for a clutch up.

with a 125 you probably wanna be in first gear, sit back on the seat and pull back with your hands as you pop the clutch. another trick is finding a bump in the road or dirt and as you hit the top of the bump try to pop your wheelie, this helped me a lot when first starting

You can do wheelie even on 50cc :P

Remember if you keep doing wheelies, Head bearings will be first thing to go, Followed by clutch, Then the pistons !

+Dole Bandit 28k later haven't had any of these issues... it's 2016 and these bikes are built to take about anything you throw at them. I've hit a tree going 80mph and the bike hopped over it and kept going, It's almost bulletproof at this point lol

+SALTxTHExWOUND Is it because the imbalance of oil in the motor when the bike is up?
@SALTxTHExWOUND8 жыл бұрын
He's probably talking about doing shitty wheelies slamming the bike down and riding the clutch burning it up. If you do proper wheelies you should have no issues asside from maybe wearing fork seals out sooner than normal. even then... 28k later and mine are perfectly fine.

Just started practicing yesterday, yes it's kinda scary the first time but at the 5th time tire went up not much but it's a start and lost that stupid fear.

Finally got my 1000 L7. Love this Beast it's scary. Watch the video and I tried it yesterday. You're right it was scary. I got the wheel up a few inches and tried it about 15 to 20 different times. Day one went well. What would be the difference if I was practicing in first gear instead of second?

unfortunately this only happens with a 1000 or a 600 at least
@SALTxTHExWOUND9 жыл бұрын
This works for even 250's you just have to apply more throttle in a lower gear
@CANNIBAxe9 жыл бұрын
SALTxTHExWOUND so on this video you did it on 2nd gear??
@SALTxTHExWOUND9 жыл бұрын
yeah on my 1000, on a 250 you would want to start out in 1st gear because it doesn't have quite as much power
@CANNIBAxe9 жыл бұрын
thanks, I have a 600cc nakedbike, it has high torque and great acceleration so it gonna be 2nd gear, I have to practice that, it looks so cool and fun! :)

Beautiful bike, man. I just bought the 2003 z1000. I feel like I'll probably never wheelie because I'm not much of a risk-taking rider, but I guess you never know. Thanks for the vid, man.
@willferrell22668 жыл бұрын
I figured out how to do this on my 350 cc four wheeler by just barely pushing down on the clutch before it shifts leaving it there revving it till she's pretty high pitched letting go and pulling back. Works real well
@mikemays86224 жыл бұрын
I’m new to riding I enjoy the vids and I’ve brought mine up from just rolling on throttle at high rpm across dips in the road. Just about a foot high and it sparked my interest. Still too new to clutch up maybes next season. Awesome video. Wheelies are instant tickets here if caught. I ride a 636

Question. Clutch in throttle, and clutch out. As you clutch out, does the throttle get chopped as well?

I think I might have regained confidence and identified my mistake by watching this, so you say to return the throttle to where it was right after releasing the clutch (obviously this happens very quickly) but my mistake was dumping on the rev but holding the rev high, you are just blipping it to catch it at the high rpm to bring it up but you don't want it to stay there you want it to kind of return to that 5'000 mark where you were at when you were just cruising is what you are saying right? Hope that's not confusing, I almost looped but from riding quads I responded with the rear brake. Haven't tried since.

I've done 3 wheelies that lasted a few milliseconds each. all thanks to this video
