The whole laying on the floor is possibly the BEST tip,trick,secret.... I have ever been told. You can actually feel the physics and bike movement, muscle engagement. Awkward-yes but WOW you feel like your'e doing the trick .. AMAZING!!! Seen alot of Matt Jones videos, and hes always consistent, and a blast to watch. Subscribed.

The best how to whip video I've ever seen! Thx
@tsnaza2504 жыл бұрын
I've been as serious of a rider as someone can be in the state of MN, for about 20 years now and the whip still eludes me. I've watched a handful of "how to's" regarding this fundamental skill, hoping to catch one that'll click for me. I've not tried it yet but the laying on the ground with the bike "inverted" seems to be an ingenious trick/tip/method that's got me and possibly others saying "Why didn't I think of that!!??" Thanks Matt.
@TrIpMo19815 жыл бұрын

Great video matt I love whips and one of the things I tell people when learning whips you need to imagine there is line of string between you hands and feet and in the middle is a weight (your center of gravity) you can whip out insanely far but as long as the center is realivant to your weight what I mean is when you start whipping you need to compensate for it with your body that's the key to whips peas and Ls

Amazing vid. Great tip about keeping the torso straight. Reminds me a bit of learning boardslides on a snowboard, counter rotating arms and legs so you can bring it back straight. Just tell me one thing: on that big 90 degree hip, where does all your forward momentum go when you land? You’re basically totally sideways yet it’s still a smooth landing. How come you don’t just get thrown out the side as soon as your wheels touch the ground?

In snowboarding left foot forward is most common and right foot forward is known as goofy footed. Does anybody know if this is the same or swapped or even for mountain biking??

I dunno what to name myself When i stand up on a bike. Like pedals level. Right foot forwards. Same with my skateboard, and i push with my left. Also on my snowboard i have my right foot forwards and left foot back, In snowboarding its called being goofy footed as only abt 5% of people ride that way. I was just wondering what the stats were for biking

We have some tabletops in a run at our local hill that seems to not be very well thought out. What I mean is that you have to either just ride over it or jump and risk landing just barely past it catching the back tire, sending you over the bars. I am fairly new at this but I want to achieve it. Basically the tabletop starts at a weird takeoff, the flat is about 5 ft long, then the back side of it is very steep and drops about 7 ft. It's position is so awkward as the next tabletop seems to be at a position where you will land directly in the takeoff and crash. So it seems all I can do is ride over it as to not land in the hole at the bottom or meet the slope with my face. Yesterday was my first official crash I guess. Just as I was trying to explain, I went over it a little faster, and the back tire landed at the other side of the tabletop causing all my weight to sit down as the suspension dampened. Well I didnt know I could break off my seat with my balls. Hurtin today lol

Doing the floor practice on my downhill bike is a proper leg workout
@Ilovepieonthemoon5 жыл бұрын
This right here is the main reason so many people can't whip very well or at all. It's a muscle group seldom used and engaging it properly is difficult without practice and training. Once you get the hang of it on the floor, take it to the air and feel how easy it is to fling the bike side to side with the freshly strengthened muscles you never knew you had! Also the added benefit of those thigh gainzzzz....

@m1chaelsc5 жыл бұрын
Fairytail Sounds this will work for all bikes on a bmx it will be easier because your fighting less angular momentum on the wheels so its twitchier and vise versa if your whipping a 29er mtb its gonna be harder because more angular momentum so it requires more aggressive movement
