@@corymoon2439 i gotchu. I tried learning this as well it was difficult af. For different frequencies you have to move your lower lip while the upper lip stays at the same spot. For me if i move my lower lip upside its a higher tone and if i move it downside its a lower one.

This is something that I really want to master and it really is like an instrament. Excellent video. Informative, interesting, and it helped me get a clear picture of what's happening inside the mouth. I still can't whistle, but as you mentioned each part, like how to space the teeth, where to put the tongue, how much breath to put into it, what part of the lips to use, each time I could feel myself getting closer. I know I'll get it soon. But most importantly, you explained WHY each part has the impact it does. You explained how the sound was generated, and then elaborated on why specific habits interfered with that process. When you understand WHY certain things work and certain things don't, it's much easier to move forward. It enables you to figure things out and make accurate guesses, rather than just trying all the different places you can put your tongue or the like. You'd be an excellent teacher if you ever entered the profession. tl;dr This video is brilliant, you're brilliant, and everyone telling you to get to the point completely missed the many excellent points you made.

I heard that your velopharynx must be closed for you to be able to whistle (if it's open, you can make the "m, n, ng" sound). I initially practised whistling with my teeth and it took a lot of time to make the sound more defined and not just...weak air. My goal now is to whistle in tune, so I went to the internet and found out that you can whistle by lips! I can't do it, so it must be due to my velopharynx not closing up. I feel like the pressure is more to my velar region. Anyway, wow, I learn so much from this video. Thank you very much!

I can whistle really good after several years of practice! I can here just to see the comments 😁 Also here's a tip you need to hold your lips in place as best as you can and start off by not pushing too much air out at the same time. Also try and sorta stretch your lips taller to make a deeper sound. To make a lighter sound flatten your lips horizontally. And make sure your lips are not wet they must be dry enough to whistle.

This is a great tutorial! Before I watched this I couldn't whistle AT ALL, not like I could make a whistling sound but only of certain pitch or couldn't control the pitch, I literally couldn't make a whistling sound at all (except for inhaling instead of exhaling, btw why is it so much easier to whistle inhaling?). People gave me various tips, some said they just "sharpen the air as it's going out", that didn't help, but with these tips I actually managed to make a whistling sound. Thank you! :)
