My Big Shot clunks when winding the foil platform through when it's hot. I noticed yours did too.

Yes, and I've heard that when it 'skips' like that then it can affect the foiling so a great tip is to 'angle' your dies to prevent as much skipping 'clunking'. Hope this makes sense ps I usually forget to do this myself, but I'm getting better lol.

I love watching Christine Stokes experiment. Can't wait to try this, it opens up SO many possibilities. Which weight of the Crafty Critta cardstock are you using Therese? Do you know if the 'normal' piercing dies work with hot foil?

Hi Tracey, I prefer the heavier weight cardstock 250gsm (100lb) and I have tried some of the normal piercing (do you mean cutting) dies. I have found if some of the lines are too close then the acetate can make the lines too thick and they join but then I would just do a regular foil of these dies without the acetate... hope that makes sense.

That must make it difficult to get an even result, I suppose shims are the only way to build it up, but then there is the risk of overfoiling...

Really enjoyed your video Therese. Couldn’t stay up for the Live as I was struggling to keep my eyes open. Tore the ligament in my left knee a couple of weeks ago and am on some strong painkillers and they just knock me out. Great tip to use acetone to clean the foil plates, tried it out this morning. I’ve only done it once so far, had a very pretty gold foiling plate which is now good as new thanks to your tip. Have yet to foil the carrier plates, but it’s just a matter of time I’m sure and you have me all ready to deal with it now when it happens😉❤️ Have seen the new Gemini but it’s not for me, I’m such a neat freak I just can’t stand the plate warping. Had the original and threw it out. I’m happy with my Spellbinders Platinum and Glimmer machines and my Sizzix machines, so I’ll stick with them. I think it’s a case of each to his/her own. We all have our personal preferences ❤ You don’t need the Tonic sweeper brush, I have one, but it’s quite a large brush. To brush away the loose little pieces of foil I use a little make up brush. It’s soft, but dense so it has enough power to buff❤️

Sorry to hear about your knee Dee, it's frustrating being in pain and then the drugs that cloud the brain don't help either (although necessary). So glad you joined me on the replay, it's good to hear I don't 'need' the brush, I'm sure one of my 100 other brushes would work just fine lol. I am very happy with my Bigshot but do get frustrated with the warping plate thingy on the Gemini, though the new (old) sandwich I've been trying again, is ok so far... From what I hear about the Betterpress, being a 'neat freak' it won't be for you, apparently the plates are all inky after using it... permanently haha. Sending healing hugs your way, and I hope you have fun foiling my friend x

Very nice, but I think you make so many excuses for the machine, when in fact the machine should do all it says it will. I shouldn't have to experiment to get a clean impression. I would say they need to improve the machine, but unfortunately too many people would have to rebuy a new machine.

Oh yes, I'm always up for a new tool to try and rarely need encouragement lol. in fact, I do have my eye on the new folding die cutting machine from Gina K (which has the dial for pressure) as I know it would be easier to travel with 😉. ps I am just happy to have found a work around for this card, though I would have liked to use the brushed gold cardstock as I initially intended.
