I'm doing this but It's easier said than done when they constantly stand there saying the most insane or shocking things and you're constantly dumbfounded..if not by their words, then the way they say them, if not by the way they say them, then when they choose to say them, if not by when they choose to say them, then by the grounds they are standing on that makes them say it. By the end of the day with listeningto to all their self absorbed theories of their grandeur its like you've solved the grand unified theory of the universe but you look at them, and it's just them a narcissist with nothing, more or less than they had yesterday.

The narcissist had started telling our mutual friends that I was a druggie. So when I started disappearing for hours every day, she began believing her own false narrative. Boy, was she ever shocked when she learned I had been going out house-hunting and had bought my own house and was moving out! I only told her after the closing. I'll never forget the look on her face...it was a priceless moment!

Keeping my thoughts to myself for days drove my ex narcissist insane. I gray rocked him. Nothing he said or did caused a reaction. He screamed in my face, accusing me of vile things & even got physical and I have no reaction. I was a blank stare. Then I left. He told me he was very impressed with my change and it scared him. No reaction to that! He just snapped!

@@jt5792 thanks a million! Every person that reaches out to me over here is like a Ray of sunshine. Sometimes I sit back and reflect that iam in the midst of total strangers who understand each word of mine so perfectly and reach out to me with love and empathy... While those that were supposed to be in that role can only pass senseless judgements and gorge on my suffering. They shall meet their end /fall from grace. Once you acknowledge that you're talking to someone with npd you realize it's not a real conversation. And they won't listen to your concern or logic. For your own sanity you have to put on your gloves and hat and mask that were made to handle this toxicity. You have to go into another mode of communication. If you want to engage with them that is.

This is…. Exactly what happened in my situation. He tried to Hoover back, I set a strong boundary which he tried to knock down. When he knew I wasn’t interested, he started to try and trigger me by triangulating me with other people… and I still didn’t react. He panicked… assaulted another female staff… off suspended/potential termination. And I didn’t even have to do anything.

Spot on, Danish!!! I had to learn this the hard way. Only one caveat I will add; they may take this to the next level which is to hack your phone, computer, etc. and they are also capable of snooping through your personal things physically if this route is available to them. I've had this done to me and lost thousands of dollars because of it. Information is their life's blood. Starve the beast!!

Haha. My narc ex would always start a fight over nothing. Shed then turn it into loud shouting and bringing up the past as well as stuff that was irrelevant. I stopped engaging early on in the relationship and got to the point where I would just sit there and listen, I'd hardly respond, maybe saying "oh ok" or "alright, do and say whatever you want. I dont even know what your talking about anymore". Essentially being silent and non combative. Ooh, let me tell you. That would piss her off more than anything. Because she would just be making an absolute fool of her self and didnt want to go down in flames by her self so she would say things or talk shit to get me to react so she could turn it all around and make me look like the crazy one, she wasnt getting away with that lol. Towards the end of our relationship, I would just say as little as possible or ignore her. She would flip out and say all sorts of the stuff that had nothing to do with anything. She eventually practically left out of nowhere. I think its because she made such a fool of her self and lost all her power by not getting a reaction out of me that she eventually folded and couldnt stand it any more. She probably needed to find someone else she could boss around and take control over. It was embarrassing. Here I am rational and logical and she would be acting like a stark raving lunatic every chance she got. I mean, I'm a fool for putting up with it for so long because I didnt have what it took to leave her and she always threatened me saying if i ever left i would be sorry kind of stuff. Pathetic, I know, but if you're familiar with law enforcement and courts, you know that a woman can make hell for you if they want. They can make up any lie and get away with. But its over now and has been for awhile. I couldnt be happier.

Somebody once told me "don't get afraid around bees because they smell your fear hormones and it triggers them to attack." I don't know whether this is true, but I endeavored to get control of my emotions in such scenarios. Twice over recent years, I found myself being charged at by big dogs barking viciously, a rotweiler and then a pit bull. In both moments, I told myself to stay calm, not release fear into my bloodstream, and not run. I stayed perfectly still, looked them in the eyes, said "are you going to be good?" to the rot, and "hello" to the pittie, and in both cases they stopped charging, walked up to me with tail nubs wagging, and put their noses in my palm. I'm not saying narcissists will wag their tails and become friendly, but it''s an interesting case study in controlling your emotions under stress and how wild animals respond differently based on how you act. I wonder if it isn't that narcissists are convinced everyone is out to get them and they are looking for signs that you are on the attack to prove it to themselves, and I suspect that there have been moments where I've calmed them down simply by showing no emotion and giving them nothing to misinterpret as an attack, and that their surprise was in realizing I wasn't on the attack and that disarmed them. I've started viewing interactions with them the same as wild animals. It happens on a primal emotional level with creatures incapable of reason. Think of a scared animal backed into a corner lashing out at rescuers trying to get close enough to save it, and that's how I approach the narcissist now. Watch The Dodo videos to see how it's done.

Oh yeah, based on your video’s i went gray rock, and all the truth came out, it was actually kind of amusing. Not a relationship, but with work. Try to bait me into reaction by saying i contribute nothing to the company, and i’m not getting any more opportunities…zero reaction. Then went to switch it up 180° and put a carrot on a string of future opportunities. I gave no reaction. All i’ve done is point out the extra dumb errors that keep on keeping on, and for that i’m the extra bad guy 😂. Scarface said it best “Chyu need people layke me! So chyu can point chyour finger, and say, DATS da bad guy!”
