one of the hardest things of maturing is realizing most people don't. I'm so disillusioned by human nature at this point I'm not even hoping for a better future, just to find some peace for myself and whatever happens happens. the only glimpse of hope I have is for A.I to become humanitys overlord, but I'm not sure I'll be around for that

Bold claim that the '84 election was decided by one quip, as if Reagan wasn't immensely popular already.
@Megameatloaf4 жыл бұрын
As a non American with incredibly little knowledge of any of your presidential history, especially Reagan (i didn't even know he was a movie star), I assumed he was just using that particular incident as an example? My interpretation of the point he was trying to make was that... at the end of the day one liners and other small momentary incidents, regardless of their political relevance, can potentially have way more impact then even the most robust and well constructed argument or policy.
@AllahHuSnackbar4 жыл бұрын
@@Megameatloaf Oh I think the point totally came across. If anything, I think the point was simply just *overstated* a bit. Then again, Mondale (Reagan's opponent in that debate) would later say he knew he lost the election after that night haha. Didn't mean it as a diss to the creator, just giving him some comments with my 2 cents so he gets blessed by the algorithm gods.
@Megameatloaf4 жыл бұрын
@@AllahHuSnackbar Oh my mistake, I probably misinterpreted your comment and thought I was helping haha. Also that's interesting to know about his opponents comment, that would have been a cool fact for the video! Replying of course so the algorithm sees viewer engagement ;). I agree with your sentiment, this channel needs some of that 'random recommended video' blessing.

Reagan was popular but his performance in the first debate made it look like he was too senile and unreliable for a second term. After that quip in the second debate, all those questions and doubts about his mental health (the biggest weapon his opponent could use against him in that election) became completely ineffective and irrelevant.

Reagan is a master when it comes to tv speech. There are countless videos about his jokes and one liners. The guy was charismatic, no one can deny that.

Turns out when you ban a weapon you're not doing anything to stop the violent crime. I'd rather be shot at than stabbed at personally. A knife doesn't need to be reloaded, but you can either run for safety or charge a gunman whose out of ammo.

@@Kyle-gw6qp the homicide rate did not change after the 1968 firearms act in the UK, besides Northern Ireland where it spiked due to politics a few years later. It's the same with every country you look at: firearms regulation does not change the homicide rate.
