I'm picking up a 12f next week and this video was amazingly helpful. Even just getting a decent look into the engine bay has helped a lot. Thanks!

Damn, sorry to hear that. If you're a marine guy, you probably know of the old Chrysler outboards right? What do you think of them? I have an old 100 horsepower and have done three videos on the boat so far. A lot of people say they are junk, but the thing has ran flawlessly so far with basically no maintenance. And great chatting as well.

When pulling the spark plug wires off (as one person said in a comment) he puts the plug wires onto the metal posts. Those posts are there for a reason. If the plug wires are just laying there "not grounded" out, there's a chance of blowing the ignition module. The spark needs to go somewhere when cranking the engine over. Meaning, either leave the spark plugs attached to each wire. But they have to be grounded. Or use the grounding posts. If your afraid of causing a fire from the spark, that means you have a fuel leak somewhere. Use the grounding posts as one person said. That way the spark is going to ground and there's no chance of damaging ignition components. $$$
@NoNonsenseKnowHow4 жыл бұрын
Did I fail to mention the metal posts in the video? I thought I did. The newer jet skis do not have them. I usually ground mine out with little jumper cables I have or lay them on the engine casing with the plugs in boots and that give them a ground path. Is that that what I showed in the video? Should have went over it in more detail in the video. Yes it is possible to damage and ignition coil or module without a ground. very rare though.

Hi! Thanks for the great video! Is it possible to go through this process while the jet ski is on a slip at the marina? We don’t have a trailer to tow it away to winterize it. The main concern is when the antifreeze comes out from the back how we can catch it without getting any to the river
@NoNonsenseKnowHow3 жыл бұрын
Yes I suppose it could be done at a slip if your marina says they're okay with it. If you use marine RV antifreeze, it's okay for it to get in the water and is non-toxic
@NoNonsenseKnowHow3 жыл бұрын
And no problem, glad you found the video useful

Did you get antifreeze to come out the side port where water circulates ? I got antifreeze out the back but never pumping out the side port, worried their could be water in there.
@NoNonsenseKnowHow4 жыл бұрын
If I remember right yes some came out when I revved the engine. But I wouldn't worry about that. That's just a hose that leads up there. I'm going to be winterizing mine pretty soon so I can let you know for sure

Engine has been over heating on my STX 12F, do you have any tips or videos to troubleshoot?
@NoNonsenseKnowHow4 жыл бұрын
No, I haven't personally had that problem yet. Do you run your jet ski in the salt water? I've heard of cooling passages getting restriction from corrosion. Also make sure to check that you're getting good water flow and at the intake hoses not clogged

Hey great video! First time ski owner and getting an idea for winterizing process. Hey could I spray everything down with silicone spray? Like everything in the engine bay and on and around everything at the jet assembly? Thanks again for the video, helped allot!
@NoNonsenseKnowHow4 жыл бұрын
Yeah you could. I would avoid getting it on hoses and wires though. Biggest thing is just make sure to cycle some antifreeze into the engine. And no problem!

I've had issues with when putting gas in the tank at the gas station - it seems to pressurize the tank and after a short while of filling the tank - the air acts like it can't get out and when it pressurizes enough all of a sudden a bunch of gas in the neck blows out.. then the process continues as I fill... fill .. pressure.. gas blow out.. until I get it full. .. anyone else having this issue?

How long did it take from the time you started the antifreeze and the time you shut it off? I ran a lot of antifreeze (5 or so gallons) through mine and couldn't get it to come out of the exhaust.
