How to Winterize an Etec Tiller

Ouch it hurts me to hear you FL guys talk about year round fishing. Makes me jealous! But believe me when I say that for those of us who have to winterize our boats, this is an AMAZING feature! It saves me a ton of time, effort and cash!

I traded that boat in last year, for an bigger boat. I now have a Crestliner 18 foot tiller, with a 90 merc. I have a review vid on it.

Many anglers dont have to winterize, I get that. For those of us that do, this feature is a big deal.

Easiest by far! I have winterized everything from old, two strokes to modern 4 strokes, and the Etec takes a fraction of the time.

So is there a process after winterization to dewinterize or do you just run it?? I bought a motor but don't remember if it was Winter ice or not but it's definitely leaking a lot of two-stroke oil after running for a minute and does smoke a little I'm wondering if it was winterized before I bought it

Might be a good idea to have a marine mechanic check that out, before you are left stranded, or destroy the outboard.

I change my fluids in the fall, so in Spring I just check fluid levels and send it!

What size was that boat?

That boat was a 16 foot Alumacraft. The High Output 60 was the perfect power for that boat!

Not really possible where I live. Our lakes are normally frozen for at least 2 months per year.

Well, I do...but from mid December until about mid March, I have to cut a hole in the water to fish.
