Thanks for this video, it’s getting cold here in Lower Northern Michigan and I was unsure of the process on my E-Tec 30, this is WAY easier than the I/O I used to own. Cheers!

Not the noise of the engine, the so-called “music” at the beginning. Anyway I followed your instructions and now I’m off to Vegas until next fishing season in Wisconsin. Thanks again.
@MuskyMastery5 жыл бұрын
William, that music was supposed to get you excited and pumped-up about boating and Evinrude..... LOL!! Perhaps I'll try another track next time. Any suggestions? Thanks as always for the comment and watch!

They still do. This Evinrude is built and owned by the company Bombardier Recreatioal Products (BRP) who make the Ski doo brand of snomobiles that are arguably the best sleds out there (#1 in world sales). Similar etec based two stroke motors.

The only thing you have to remember is to turn the key off after she shuts down. Learned that this fall and had a dead battery next time out.

LOL!! Yup.. I've done that before :(

So don’t need to run gas out? Just add fuel stabilizer, let it run then go through this process?
@MuskyMastery2 жыл бұрын
Yes, just add the stabilizer for the winter.

Will it leak 2 cycle oil afterwards when stored away?
@MuskyMastery3 жыл бұрын
I have not had that issue ever before? Never any oil residue underneath the engine after storing over the winter.
@stuntcardriver3 жыл бұрын
@@MuskyMastery I just purchased a new boat with a 60hp Evinrude and it leaking oil. Maybe because the dealer winterized it twice to show me how to do it.
@megap215 жыл бұрын
Do you disconnect the gas before starting the process or do you just keep it connected as normal and just follow the throttle process ?
@MuskyMastery5 жыл бұрын
Michael, thanks for the watch and comment! I do not disconnect the gas during the winterization process - or at any time throughout the winter during storage. I do disconnect the batteries though and make sure to charge them consistently every month.

@@MuskyMastery . Yes, Thank you. We had a quick cold snap here last week and I used your video to winterize in the 4 hour window we had above freezing. (like you say... in just about 2 minutes) My engine did exactly what your engine did and your video made it super easy. Thanks again from Iowa!
@SelkirkVinny2 жыл бұрын
@@skpyoun good news there is no freezing danger with your two stroke marine motor. That's for the 4 stroke inboard folks to worry a out. This is just engine oil fogging for coating the internal surfaces.

A meter that shows the essential information of the engine (temperature, oil quantity, etc.)@@MuskyMastery

Terry, it was a great motor for me. I had it from 2012 - 2020 until I sold my old Ranger 680T. I have talked with the new owner and he said the engine and boat are running great!

after ya winterize the motor and the water is still running. Does it trap any inside at all or cut it off some where at the point the motor shuts itsself off?
@MuskyMastery4 жыл бұрын
Brian, thanks for the watch and comment! To the best of my knowledge when the motor shuts off it blows any remaining water out of the top half of the engine. Once the engine shuts off, it stops pulling water up and whatever is left should run down due to gravity. I always winterize mine in the driveway on tilt and sometimes - in very cold circumstances - I put a big tarp over the engine in the garage with a space heater safely placed to melt anything that has froze up. I will usually keep the tarp and space heater running for a few days (always checking it) and things thaw out, drain and dry. Hope that helps!

Hi. I just winterized my E-tec 50 today, according to this and other instructions. I ran into a "mistery". I have seen several videos where the four lamps in the rev meeter is indicating when to lower and raise the idle lever. On my rev meeter I only had that indication in the middle two lamps, the Low oil and No oil lamps didn't lit up at all. Besides that, the winterization worked exactely as in your video. Can I assume my winterization is OK, despite the lack of lamp indications? Or shall I do it again?
@MuskyMastery4 жыл бұрын
Thats a tough one Hans... I am not sure what to say. With an expensive piece of equipment I would perhaps suggest having it looked at by a mechanic? Just to make sure that your lights are working properly?
@kevinwimmer41595 жыл бұрын
What excatly does that do to the engine?
@Nick-bp8ze5 жыл бұрын
Kevin Wimmer when the engine is in winterization mode the cylinders are receiving double the amount of oil than usual. I would recommend putting stabil in the fuel before hand. Also greasing the pivot points (3). And replacing the gearcase oil. I would let the motor run beforehand for a while to let the stabil get into the vapor separator and engine before activating winterization mode.
