From a person who responds, please dont double up pirs unless it covers the same room. I have been to alarms where a reed switch and a pir were on same zone but different sides of the building. If you need to double up zones on an install by an expander or bigger panel. This idea for reeds is more for a row of doors or similar in one room. But remeber if one goes faulty your going to muck around finding the fault, and if an intruder shuts the door you wont know which one was opened.

The only vid showing a REAL example - excellent. All the other simply draw a picture and a few of them are not correct.

@18524711 Motion sensors can be wired very similar, as far as putting contacts and motions on the same zone, I would not advise that. Keep the motions and contacts seperated.

Great video. I had an old DSC (6 zones) and the builder connected multiple rooms together (i.e., Kitchen and family room, bedroom 1&2). I now have a Honeywell 20P and zone expander and want to separate those areas into different zones. The wiring for those rooms is setup like in your video. I labeled the wiring but don't know how to separate them into zones.

Nice vid, Can I use the same wiring that you show here to wire IWISE motion sensor in serie ? Can I use windows sensor and motion sensor in one zone at time ?

Hey Matt, can you do a video of how to wire up and program a DSC PC585 four zone panel with motion sensors, mini contacts, vibrations and panic button (wired and wireless). It would be very much appreciated.

Negative. Normally open circuits wire in parallel.
