I watched a bunch of videos from so called experts and actual store fronts who sell wiring supplies, and none of them could put it as basic and simplistic as you did. It's not complicated and you didn't make it seem complicated. Very well done sir. Thank you for doing this video as it will help me to add an on/off rocker switch between my motorcycle battery and my led wiring harness. Gracias.

Thank, your video help me out a lot!!! One lady had her LED Both black or ground no positive.. Another person had a 2 prong switch.. Dude I looked like 12 video units I got to your. I'm connecting a 3 prong toggle switch I bought from AutoZone to a LED light to my Car bactery.. The 3 prong on my switch are the same color , it only had POWER, ACC and last GROUND.. All my life I only used 2 prong switch.. THANK A MILLION.. What kill me you are a kid that taught this old dog new trick.. MUCHA GRACIA..

Very well done!! Question: instead of splicing into the battery negative wire to attach the negative lead from your acc, could you just put a double spade male connector on the switch post and attach both wires? Thanks!

Thanks a lot dude. I have watched so many videos and looked at images of diagrams and yours has been the only one that has helped me wire an illuminated push button switch. It's the same process as your rocker switch. I understood you clearly and you made it so simple and easy to understand. I had my switch hooked up to a battery and LED in a few minutes. Thanks again.

sorry if i sound dump but wat exactly is the use of these types of switches ? i Accidentally ordered these switches n I am not sure how to use it . i searched everywhere including this wonderful video explaining the connection setup and the outcome that is lighting up of the led seems similar to just using a simple home on / off switch . so why do we need this complicated setup for just switch on / off ?
@arturojimenez43824 жыл бұрын
With a ON/OFF switch you would have to run directly from car battery to accessory. 3 prong allows you to tap into an existing wire without interrupting original power flow... Also these come with an integrated fuse for safety... not 100% sure in 2 prong does too. but at the end of the day some switches do the same job as others, just preference as well.

So I have a question. I hooked up a three-prong taco switch to my LED lights to my four wheeler the lights in the switch work. I also put a fusible wire in it and I have an app on my phone to change the colors and all that it even came with the remote. The lights did but now the lights just turn on white and I can't get them to change color. Do you have any ideas?
@djmikeymic102 жыл бұрын
Could instead of connecting to the battery connect it directly to the fuse box instead for a power source ? If I could where do I connect the extra ground/ negative to from the prong then ? And since I’m powering a LED for the car the black wore that comes out of it do I ground that to the bolt ? And if so could I from the ground on the prong switch tap into the black that is grounded ?

I have a rocker light up switch which I have put inline on a 240v to 5v transformer lead to enable me to switch on and off a Raspberry PI. The switch has positive, negative and earth so I have cut the positive wire on the lead and connected the switch in between the cut wire. The switch works and turns it on and off but does not light up as it does not have an earth to connect to. Is there anyway to get it to light up as well?

Big problem: My 3 pins are labeled 1,2 & 3 with a little "+" sign at pin #3. I kept wiring pin #3 to the battery! It is actually the NEG. pin and it is Brass. Why on earth would the manufacturer do that? It screwed me up for weeks on my test bench.... refusing to accept that pin #3 wasn't POS. When I used it as NEG. ground all was perfect. Thanx for your clear video.

If I wire my underglows on my moped like this straight to the battery .. even though my underglow is switched off will the battery still be using power?? And run dead?
@KonaProductions4 жыл бұрын
Raymond Niko no it shouldn’t. But you’ll need a fuse between the battery and the LEDs. My suggestion would be to wire the under glows from the ac adapter, cigarette power or from an extra existing accessory slot from the fuse box

I figured it out, cause nothing caught on fire, I'm facing where it has 20amp,On,12v,Off, lettering, the (pin pointing to the right up, or sticking out? Does the negative wire from the Switch have to be connected to the negative battery terminal or can it be grounded to the chassis like the acc -?
@KonaProductions6 жыл бұрын
MGonline1209 not it doesn’t have to go directly to the negative but you can, but as long as you ground it to the chassis will be good... and btw the acc doesn’t get ground, it gets plugged to the positive(red) of what ever you want to turn on

Channel 6133 yea bc the negative terminal of the battery is the best secured negative connections so that you won’t have any shortages but if you Use any metal make sure it’s cleaned and exposed for good contact and also tight.

@KonaProductions6 жыл бұрын
R. RODRIGUEZ you would only have to connect the positive to a positive wire running electricity and negative to anything that is hitting/has ground, but keep in mind that you wont have a switch to turn it on/off so if it stays on it can obviously drain your battery if it’s in a vehicle; however, if it is in a vehicle, use a circuit tester to make sure it turns off when the vehicle is turned off or something similar to that like also connecting them to the dome lights.
@KonaProductions6 жыл бұрын
You can connect them directly to the battery too, but, you will still need to add a fuse to the positive wire to secure the wire from overloading to prevent it from melting/causing fire... so I’d rather tap into existing wires bc they already have fuses and most of them I’m sure are around the same gauge wire as the LED’s

03:09 wronggggggggg, accessories is the middle terminal, and power is the terminal on the left. If it was as shown on that diagram, power and ground would be shortcircuited when the switch is off.

@kelvinkersey50586 жыл бұрын
Very confusing that everyone else's videos have positive in the middle and yours has it on one side. (Not clear which side)
@arturojimenez43826 жыл бұрын
Kelvin Kersey Like I️ mentioned in the video, that particular rocker switch comes pre-labeled, the A on it will always be for (Accessory)which is whatever your trying to turn on like a LED strip or anything else, that’s in the middle. And for the positive it should have a (+) and for the negative it should have a (-) or three little lines indicating ground, typically it’ll be a bronze color unlike the other two.
@alejandroperez53686 жыл бұрын
Accesories terminal always needs to be in the middle for this type of rocker switch, because it's always in use: when the switch is off: it's connected to ground, when the switch is on: it's connected to input power. If the accesories terminal were not in the middle, it would mean that input power and gound would be shortcircuited at one of the two switch positions.
