How To Wire The Select Shift Function on a Lokar Shifter For Your Coyote Swap 6R80 Transmission.

Wiring up the micro switches on the Lokar electronic sport shifter. This example is on my 1969 Ford F100. its bagged and slammed and coyote swapped awesomeness.

Curious how happy you are with it when complete. They’re all nice and tight when you get them out of the box, but once you install them they’re sloppy as can be. Only detents are the detents on the trans. Lots of free play in the shifter. I’m on my 2nd one. Got a 1960 with a gen 2 Mustang and 6r80.

I've got the 3 Gen with the 10-speed automatic. I would think the same principles apply to the wiring, we just added 4 gears. Color codes of the wires change a little, I believe grey is upshift, green with violet is downshift, dark blue is signal return. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I have access to all data. What I see is the wires coming out of the PCM are grey for shift up, green and violet for shift down and blue for signal, like you said. But it changes before it the shifters to grey for up, green (no violet) for down and blue is still rtn signal.

@@carscream1650 I have a 6-way pigtail coming off my power distribution box. Far as I can tell the green and violet end at that plug.

Whats the verdict on this shifter 11 months later? I see one of the bigger coyote swap companies stopped selling them because of issues, which has made me question getting one.

I mean, it works. Rigging is a little bit of a challenge and it's pretty sloppy. I don't hate it but I'd change it out if a better option came to town.

Thanks for the reply, seems like its either this or the factory shifter which Im not a fan of the looks. As far as it being sloppy what issues have you had? Is it just sloppy install and looks or is it sloppy mechanicals, and function?

It's crossing out the unused wire. Each switch has a normally open circuit and a normally closed circuit. So, you only need 2 of the three wires.

How would I hook this up to a TCM input on a standalone harness. They literally have one wire that says hook to slap shifter and are telling me I don’t need a TCM is there a way I can hook to this instead of tapping into the harness otherwise I need a pin out from the company correct?

I have no clue, bud. You could probably call ford performance. I've heard that they're really helpful. Also could try power by the hour, they are very knowledgeable about the swaps and the lokar shifters.

Curious have u instilled the shifter all instilled and working properly, I never could get mine to work properly, LoKar has had my shifter for almost a month now

Yeah. I found it rigged better when I rigged in in sport mode. So I pulled the shifter all the way back and put the trans in the 5th detend and rigged the cable off that. When I rigged it in park, I wasnt getting the sport detent. It works great. Sport shift works as it should as well.
