HOW TO do a wire tuck on a Harley Sportster!
________
Parts used:
Tank lift - (For 1.5" lift like mine, send seller message asking for 1.5")
► amzn.to/2mfdDP7
EZ Fuse Silicone Tape (2 rolls needed!)
► amzn.to/2muuQVm
Blue Loctite 243 Threadlocker (removable)
► amzn.to/2lXzGag
________
For those of you out there specifically wanting to know how to do a wire tuck, here's a quick walk through.
You'll notice as I progress through this video, I also relocated the Coil + Ignition to the left side. If you are interested in doing that, you can find that "How To" video here:
HOW TO: Coil + Ignition Relocation
► • HOW TO: Coil & Ignitio...
Wire tucks can be done without doing a Tank Lift, but the wires will usually have run along the right side of the spine. If you do a tank lift, you then have a small channel for the wires to run between the top of the spine and the gas tank. I did a 1.5" tank lift and had enough room. You can find my "How To" here on doing a tank lift:
HOW TO: Install Tank Lift
► • HOW TO: Install Tank L...
As always, use caution when doing mods to your bike! If you're not comfortable doing a mod, get some help from a friend who is, or see a mechanic. And if you have any questions, please post up and I'll answer to the best of my knowledge.
Thanks for watching, and I hope it helps some of you out there that are possibly considering doing a wire tuck!
Ride safe out there!

Really good explanation about not pinching/chafing the wiring once you are done wrapping and place the tank back. Super important and usually never well shown and explained. Plan on doing the same to my 48 here in the next couple weeks.

Agree with Tyler sir thank you for videos. Question when you lift tank in front only does it affect fuel capacity useable because of tank no longer being level especially cause drain for fuel injectors is midway on tank???

If your bike has an alarm, first turn on the ignition all the way (do not start the bike!). Then remove the main fuse. Leave the ignition on until you've finished working on the bike and have reconnected the fuse. Otherwise, your alarm may get triggered.

@BlockheadMoto
@BlockheadMoto 7 жыл бұрын
+Freddy4life08 The silicon tape holds great, it's what's recommended for the job by many companies as well. I've used shrink wrap before, would have been more difficult for this application as you're not really cutting any wires, just relocating them from bottom / side of spine to top. God you like the bike, thank you for the kind words 👍🏼
@mattgardner3763
@mattgardner3763 6 жыл бұрын
Freddy4life08 the problem with shrunk wrap is you will have to remove the connectors first. Big margin for error there.
