Good breakdown video Aaron. It would be cool to also see how you wire up multiple reels and also connect the battery into the system. It took me a long time to figure that all out the first time.

Cody I understand that. I did six reels today Powered with dedicated 6awg ran 15’ to each reel. I used 4 pole solenoids #8awg 133 copper strand to power the switch, to run the ground, And to power to device. My reel motors say 50amp max So I stayed true to that I used the #6awg because of the longer run to the reels My switch is rated at 60amp My solenoid is rated at 60 amp My reels are not grounded. Which made me ground my switch and motor to the trailer frame from each unit And I build custom handles to house the switches I installed a 40amp fuse directly off the battery on each power wire to protect all my components and wiring I always seem to end up doing everything from scratch. I like that this video popped up the night “after” I did all my reel wiring 😂

Since my spray rig comes on and off my pickup, I wanted a convenient connection. So, I ran a hot wire to the back of my truck and into a waterproof household outlet near the hose reel. Then, I connected the ground and + to a pigtail. Now my hose reel has a cord that I can plug and unplug easily.

I’m installing a new Hannay reel to a ride on sprayer. And I have questions..I’ve watched this video (very helpful). I’ve connected all wires as you have done here but curious what post on solenoid does hot from battery connect to and do I ground negative from battery to frame of sprayer or reel? Thanks

I bridged the posts on the selenoid and it works. But nothing past that works. I tried bridging from positive post on solenoid to small post (to act as the wire and switch) and got nothing. Can i just run wires from both big posts on solenoid to switch? Or will that mess something up? I tried it and it works, but dont want to mess something up.

i could not find a good ground in my van, is there a way not to use ground? just the positive and negative 12v battery only?

What amperage are all your components? Motor Momentary switch Solenoid You used 10awg. Rated for 30 amp? Just wondering if you considered using 8awg for your power feed and ground wires just for possible surges that would spike the amperage to your motors max and on your wiring.

10awg rated Nominal Voltage 1000V;Bear Current: 50A Depends on the length of run in regards to lowering AWG of the wire. From the fuse box we use 6AWG Solenoid: Voltage: 12V Continuous Amps: 100A Surge Amps: 200A

Good morning, and thank you for your video. I wired my hose reel and it travels in the wrong direction. Does this mean I simply reverse the connections? I noticed you tested with a battery and not a meter. This tells me polarity is not an issue, it's a directional one. True? Thanks again.

Yes reverse the connections. Rarely the motor can be wired wrong but it happens.
