Bro you’re a goddamn lifesaver with this video & the big reaper INK session video. Really helped me make my bands lights to our set 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🔥 Could you do a video showing your signal flow for everything light wise? Like if you went through each light you guys have, name & model, cost, & how it looks in the DMXIS That would be the greatest band startup light show video ever hahaha

thank you so much for making this video! one question - how do you copy envelope data to your master sessions? And then get it so it's aligned to the midi/track? Envelope data is the only thing that isn't copying across properly

Hey JD, how many music man's (sounds weird saying it that way) do you have in your collection? I've been playing 23 years now and never gave those guitars too much thought until I found your channel (always and still rockin the Ibanez SZ's, my go to), and seeing you break the laws of physics with them. By the way, awesome job on the new MIW album, extremely well crafted and put together man. Looking forward to hearing what is next, maybe a sneak peek? Keep up the solid work brother.

John Bess thanks John!!! I have kept a steady 6-8 different ones. I like to keep 2 or 3 JP6 and 2 JP7 as well as a 4 and 5 string sting ray bass available at all times for artists. My most recent addition was the silhouette bass guitar which is sort of a hybrid. Plays like a guitar, longer scale length than a baritone and can tune super low. I try to keep every guitar in a different tuning so something is always ready on the fly when people come in. I fill in the gaps with some other guitars and basses with some of my Ibanez pieces I’ve kept over the years.

Thanks for this! Super helpful. One quick question though, do you bring your own lighting rig to each venue? If not, how can you guarantee that the lights you set up in Reaper will be used at each venue?

hey man, what hardware did you use? Seems like you send out a click track to your band and maybe a backing track to the FOH PLUS you controlled your dmx lights.

ATWBB I used the behringer x32 as my interface as well as the mixing console for in ear monitors. All the audio would go through that.

@@inkjd thanks for your reply. So, you connected the x32 and a DMXIS to your PC and both are activated in your DAW as output device?

@@ATWBB Yup. the daw recognizes the X32 as an interface so I can route audio in and out of it as needed, the DMXis plugin runs in the daw as a VSTi and automatically links up with the plugin without needed to configure any daw preferences, and the x32 itself has an app for the laptop to control the mier settings and routing just like you would if it was a mixing board in front of you. All can be done from the laptop. Still the best setup I've come across for bands slimming down equipment and making a huge show!

Hey Justin! Thank you for your videos, they're really helpful. I've been looking to buy a DMXIS, but I can't find it anywhere, I thing it's discontinued. Is there any alternative similar to the DMXIS? With its VST to control the lights with a DAW. Thank you again!

Hey dude! Yea it's been a while since this video but looking at the developer's site it looks like they've just replaced their devices and maybe software with something else. Check this link. It's the closest thing I found after doing a quick search on their site. www.enttec.com/product/lighting-communication-protocols/dmx512/open-dmx-usb/ You would likely need to pair it with one of their software. Not to say that it wouldn't work with another. Afterall, this is an interface so maybe it would work with something else. Hope that helps!
