How to Wrap a Dog's Paw: Step-by-Step Demonstration on Bandaging

You probably don't give your dog's paws much thought, but you should! Dog paws are not immune to health problems. Issues with your pet's feet could lead to serious health problems. Knowing how to wrap a dog's paw will come in handy in the event of an injury.

Supplies you'll need:
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Vetericyn topical antibiotic ointment (amzn.to/31dcsBL)
- Band-aid non-stick gauze pads (amzn.to/2GHKrZF)
- STpro self-adhesive bandage wrap (amzn.to/2thARtr)
- Hampton Adams medical tape (amzn.to/36R0e37)
After cleaning the wound, you'll need to be sure that it stays covered for at least 2-3 days. Wounds on the paw are especially difficult to keep clean, because they are always touching the ground. It's important to keep them covered to prevent further injury and/or infection.

My dog pulled the nail off completely to bone. We took to vet.. got pain meds and antibiotics for infection. It’s been almost two weeks. Still raw. Tried the cone to protect from licking. However he has allergies and the cone is causing him to scratch at ears .. due to the hot weather and cone combo causing irritation. She advised not to wrap so he is reopening any healing by striking the edges of cone. Stopped using cone and went to light bandage to allow air flow. However he like to pull off. It often gets licked before we catch it… then comes the spot bleeding. Swelling seems to be down and he’s limping less. It gets rebadged .. it seems 6 times a day. I made the mistake of just pouring some peroxide in the last two days instead of bathing in Epson salts and water. I won’t now as you mentioned it’s not good. I also was using polysporin. After further research I am realizing that’s not necessary good either. So stopped that. Even with all the latest mistakes made. I feel this injury should be doing better. Any suggestions? 🌸

A plastic boot wont allow for the crust to form. It would ooze not being able to get dry. What about using a sock and use to tape to secure it .

When dosed intravenously... No research suggests topical application will lead to hearing loss. Never the less people should consult their vet before using it on their dog. Though, im sure most vets would agree very small amounts applied topically are not harmful.

You can use eye ointment and oral cetirizine for itching, if required give antibiotic Also use dog collar to avoid pawing on injured part And bandage the injured area

@@patherron7704 When you have a bacteria in your blood, you die. Gut bacteria is not living in you. Gut surface is actually OUTSIDE of your body. Skin bacteria is not helping you heal. They just live outside the tissue, eating off the waste material from the decaying skin. If any of those bacteria gets in the wound and starts multiplying, you get an infection. Do not spread false information.

Sorry this does not work for pitbulls...not at all!!! I have also been using peroxide and triple a ointment...for 6 weeks...nothing. Thnx for trying but will never work for dogs 🐕
