no way. I want a really quiet exhaust on my scooter. I only ride it at night in my local neighborhood, so so I don't want to disturb neighbors. I was going to purchase an electric scooter you sit on since it is quiet, but they are not road legal in my state, on the stand up razor style electric scooters are legal.

I did exactly that with my very noisy yoshimura exhaust for my Honda Ruckus, I removed the old wool, I put fiberglass like you did, with wire, and I redid a few rounds without, for what fills the case well, and voila, it's really quieter, now, thanks. 🙂

Great video! I use fibreglass drywall tape to secure the baton . Tried all types of tape with no success. Drywall fibre tape works the best for me…

Do you have some pictures of your project . ? Does it get burnt ? I’m trying to figure out what kind of tape. The one I know is polyester mesh .

The problem is depending on the pipe/baffle size, it's usually a pretty tight fit so this wrap would end up bunching as you try to insert it. If there's more than enough room in the pipe this should quiet things down quite a bit.

If you add baffle does it make the bike run leaner? Remove baffle and it runs richer?

Amazon. Get a fiberglass sheet for $12-$14. Done. Iys that easy. The louvred baffle is best and cuts noise out better than mesh type or solid ones.

I've a Chinese silencer from eBay. It has a smaller baffle. I have just wrapped it thinly to start with. If it works I will use more and use wire.

Hello, I have a question: is it bad if you wrap it TOO much ? I did mine to reduce noise as much as possible, but the air has to pass through the wool now, there is no clear path for the air too take. Could it cause too much backpressure ?

@@Stefanovicch I noticed a little loss of roll-ability when you stop accelerating, as if the engine was braking. During acceleration I noticed no change though. I guess when you accelerate the pressure is enough to go through the wool, but when you stop, the pressure remains high in the pipe. Also, gas will find a way, and it will move the wool for a clear passage, i had to repack it every year so far

Use masking tape not wire only need a bit to get the cover back on dissolves away no problem wire sucks on the next change..

This method can be applied to any removable baffle which has sufficient room in the muffler to fit the additional matting upon refitting!

Is there any particular kind of fiberglass matting that is needed? I was looking at Amazon and lot to choose so but confused on what I need.

I use ceramic wool. more expensive - but lasts a lot longer - isn't affected by heat and pressure as much.

Exactly Wrong! . You DO NOT wrap fiberglass tight with wire. You wrap it tight with thread, install it and then the thread burns off and fiberglass expands to absorb more sound. Crushed fiberglass cant absorb sound.

I wonder if stainless steel mesh would work - if one could get it in strips. Kinda like those steel scrubbing pads (not wool). It would let air through so less restriction but should muff the sound.

It's very unlikely as the exhaust flow can still travel through the centre of the baffle easily. This set up pushes some of that exhaust from the central flow outward into the matting, but it won't cause the flow to reverse or be significantly stifled!

Just brought vance and hines quiet baffles and there seems to be a lot of wadding compared you what you use, can there be to much wadding and how will this affect the bike please?

Hi Paul, I would definitely leave the factory wadding supplied by Vance and Hines. The wrapping shown here is more for straight through aftermarket pipes that have no wadding.

They control the decibel level and provide back pressure so that your engine can run at it's best!

@@T4R3dneck They will definitely reduce sound further, and also generally create a nice, deep note. The fibreglass will of course degrade over time, but as you can see, rewrapping is a quick an easy task!

@@audiophilipp old ladies walking their dogs put a curse on you as you drive past. Removing them will also make your ears bleed. I took them off my suzuki intruder on Friday as I custom built some straight pipes. This morning I've fitted baffles like these and it's still loud, just not offensively loud. The dB meter was reading 121dB without them. Basically like riding around with a chainsaw on full throttle strapped to the pillion seat.
