I enjoy this channel because we actually see you working on things, and not just a jump cut to the finished thing your making. Also not everything works, and you try different methods of making these parts.

I have been really looking forward to this video and once again you provided an awesome detailed and relative documentary account of the processes involved in manufacturing and constructing custom exhaust baffles while detailing the cause and effect relationship of the modifications. Loved it and agree the tone sounds spot on.

Great vid. I have two CB750’s (big bore) 79 & 81. If the carbs aren’t clean (ie jets deliver same quantity of fuel through throttle range) and haven’t been balanced/synced the exhaust noise is considerably louder.

Great video, very good instruction. But those apps seem awful. I got an actual db reader when i built the exhaust on my CB. Phone microphones just arent up to the task.
@bez29443 жыл бұрын
I had the same bike and tried so many things to get it to sound good but nothing worked. I tried all kinds of baffles. Bought some, made some, nothing ever worked. Always too loud. Ended up doing something that seemed wrong, but was the best solution.. i put a cap (round disk of sheet metal) blocking off the exhaust at the tip. Seems wrong, but was definitely the best it got.
@MotoGoato3 жыл бұрын
the cct on the CB is a hydraulic auto adjusting type ... you'll probably find that some of the hydraulic oil ways are blocked with a bit of crud .. usually removing the mechanism and cleaning it all out sorts the issue. Love the sound of it at the end of the video .. pretty much perfect😊

I used an app for decibels this way yesterday, and the first thing I tested was the maximum input the phone can register.. Turns out it's not a lot, so I ended up putting my phone in another room, to get readings within its range.

Great and onformative video mate...thoroughly enjoyed it...I have a question if you have the time.....I have a new can with removal baffle...without its far too loud....with...its a little quiet....its a long tube with around five ridges around 10mm long sticking out along its length....would you recommend cutting a few off or drilling some holes in the ridges or shaft? or would I bugger up the bag pressure or what not? thanks in advance..matt

I hate those too loud totally empty pipes, makes the bike sound like a broken car. For some reason specially on cx500 they do too open pipes. Thanks for the video, i have one cx500 project in the future and i will do these baffles even if it takes a day or two to make. I usually use real mufflers on my builds so i don't have this problem. Hi, did any of you guys have to take care about rusted out muffler? I mean the inner tube - hole on the bottom part. I have a cbx750 from 1984 and one muffler is rusted out and little pieces of rusted metal are making unpleasant noises and since “new” stock looking exhausts are expensive i thought it could be repaired by drilling out those rivets and taking the tube out, weld those holes and maybe wrapping in muffler fiberglass (if it originaly had some idk). Do you have any tips?

Did you wrap your baffles in the end? I modded my baffle with the tabs & end plate & wrapped it but I find it just blasts the packing out. To the point where I wonder if I’ll end up with big holes in the packing where I bent the tabs down.
