Hey Mike, Thanks for your comments! For use while mountain biking we generally make slightly smaller big-bite size cakes. Stuffing the paper back into your pockets has never been a problem it's not much stiffer than regular tinfoil. Calories count totally depends on the size and what you put in them. The savory cakes with bacon (or other meat) can really up the calorie count! In the Feed Zone cookbook each version has specific nutrition information based the version.

Mike, Calorie content depends on which version of our rice cakes (or other Portables) you're making. Each recipe in The Feed Zone and Feed Zone Portables Cookbooks contain complete nutrition information. In the Feed Zone Portables cookbook there are many recipes made specifically for mtn biking that are one or two bites and can be consumed on single track more easily than your typical gel.

OK that's pretty neat, but now show me how you eat it on the bike (specifically a MTB through single track!) and what you do with the wrapping after? That paper looks pretty stiff and thick to be jamming up one's knicks, and just how many calories are there in one of these babies?

This is great, and I love the book, but apparently this parchment/foil stuff isn't made anymore. I cant find it anywhere. Anyone have any ideas - alternatives?
