Thank you, Oli! This is super helpful! This real-time practice gives us a good example of how to manage our time well during the composing of essays.

We definitely need more videos like this, Oli. If possible, please make a series of "how to write a band 9 IELTS essay" videos which covers all types of questions in IELTS. Because it makes so much sense to me, the way you develop ideas regarding the questions. I don't think I found someone did it like this ever. My deep gratitude. Keep up the good work.

I agree with you that the format will help us... But there r video call options to show your expressions(non_verbal communication). But there is a difference between looking, touch and feeling. So, I feel that is also right. This video was very helpful. Keep doing this good work... ❤❤

@@Oxfordonlineenglish1 Topic: Digital communication technology such as email, instant messaging and social media have improved connections and communication between people. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? Intro: The advent of information technology has offered numerous benefits for people to communicate since the development of many applications which are used by billions of individuals to correspond and chat via the Web. Therefore, some experts argue that such features have enhanced people's communication in several ways. In my view, such facilities can make people's daily requirements of communication more effective. Body 1: Electronic mail has revolutionized the way letters are circulated. For example, traditional 'snail mail' is less convenient and more time-consuming compared to emails. Thus many companies prefer such tools in the modern era while recruiting candidates. Emails are used more frequently to inform the job seekers of the next interview or recruitment. Moreover, these are also used to send the results of some examinations without delay. Finally, compared to the post, electric mail can be more dependable, and therefore organisations and certain advertising firms use email addresses of unknown users to target their potential clients. Body 2: Instant messaging has become immensely popular for several reasons. For instance, WhatsApp, Viber, Skype and Facebook messenger have made messaging more practical and efficient due to the low cost and convenience. Additionally, video sharing has become prevalent among users of such features, thereby enabling them to utilize those tools. Consequently, educating others on passing difficult examinations, initiating video conferencing to fill the needs of the corporate sector by negotiating with clients and providing feedback to employees have become more productive. Body 3: Social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter have enabled users to visit such websites without expert knowledge of sharing images, videos and messages worldwide at low cost. Consequently, many people can raise their voices to support a wide variety of professionals as well as amateurs to master their skills. Furthermore, such useful advice or messages can influence the general public in case of a domestic crisis. Conclusion: To conclude, each measure, namely emails, instant messaging and social networking has contributed immensely to improving people's everyday communication requirements. In my opinion, such tools can be used to ensure that day-to-day communication needs are fulfilled in a more feasible and effective manner.

I love this way of teaching. While most of the time, IELTS teachers deliver boring and lengthy about do and don’t in Writing. But S like me, forget it immediately. And I find the step planning, before writing, is most critical step and this clip demonstrated how to make this very easy to understand. Thanks a lot.

For variety and avoidance of monotony, you can also use words like nexus, linkage, tie-up and association instead of "connection".

I think this video is a great help. Thank you! Though I have a question. As a matter of fact, you can see people's body language and facial expressions through video chat. The essay doesn't say why video chat is no substitute for face-to-face communication.
@Oxfordonlineenglish13 жыл бұрын
We're glad you found the lesson helpful, Yan. While you can see some body language and facial expressions through video chat, I think the position of this essay was to explain that it is no substitute for the true communication through the body language and facial expression signals that we can experience in-person. Hope this helps you!

First , thank you so much for your all great lessons. Please, could you tell me how many major supporting details you have used in each paragraph, I 'm having a hard time to distinguish between a major supporting detail and a minor supporting details in a written paragraph
@Oxfordonlineenglish16 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, Ilam. There doesn't have to be a specific number of major and minor supporting details, as long as you have both. Major supporting details are the most important, and they have the essential information that directly relates to the main idea. Minor supporting details expand on this information and provide more detailed points. The minor supporting details are extra and not required for the reader to understand the main idea.

This is great attention to detail, and exactly the kind of nuance you need to pick up on to get higher bands. That said, the idea of 'improving connection(s)' could be interpreted as making it easier to form new connections with others, also.
