My wife and I booked an IELTS academic exam with only 10 days worth of study time, not knowing what we would be up against (did I mention we have toddlers who made studying near impossible?) I am here to thank you Chris. I finally got ‘BAND 7’ in writing. For those who are still finding a golden rule or cramming templates, unfortunately for you folks, the answer lies in simplicity of ideas and flow through. Imagine yourself as an English expert, reading fancy vocab, complexed ideas leaving asides grammar and spelling errors, how do you expect to get a band 7? Answer the ‘why, how and as a result strategy’ in an essay capturing simplicity in ideas but with better selection of words from the main topic. More importantly seek an expert who would guide you on the common and basic mistakes you may be making in your preparation. May you get there on the other side soon. Best wishes 🎉

I got access to EnglishExamPrep tutorials and they have direct written strategies to use for specific questions. The trash I have been following, got me only 6 band in writing. ILETS advantage is the best because it understands that after reading and listening tests, a person will be drained and can work on simple ideas only. Okay, first things first - thank you for the ton of work you guys go through to help us here. It's impressive how much patience you have with us)) To the point I want to make half through the video. I feel more comfortable when I write down a bg sentence, it becomes a starting point from which I can develop the essay itself. It is a good instrument for people who are not used to writing essays, not because it's supposed to impress someone, but because it's actually a helpful starter. For me it's always a pain in- i mean, it's hard to phrase and formulate my thoughts, so some common phrases can save me some time, which I can spend pondering about other parts of the topic. Also, about the "straight answer without beating around the bush". Yep, we get the idea of a clear and straightforward answer. But the topics in the tests actually are controversal, aren't they? Otherwise it would be impossible to have diffirent opinions on them. And yes, most of the time when my opinion is asked about one of such topics, I do sincerely try to bring light evenly to every side of the problem. Being radical about things like digital phones is kinda rare, isn't it? And if we're supposed to just choose one side and suupport it, then. ugh. That's hard, to lie purposefully just to get a better mark on an essay. Might be a personal problem though, I'm not trained in debates and/or used to such things. I know some schools dedicate time to such skills and it's great.

thats a pattern taught in india. almost app indian sample answers have similar structure. they simply write "i will like to discuss both point before reaching any conclusion" in introduction... and explain both side in body and pick a side in conclusion

It's funny because I actually got a question like this in July 6th Test. Mine was "some people think children watching television often influences their behaviour while others think it depends on what they watch" Discuss both tviews and give your opinion. And with Chris Tip. I got 7.0 on my first attempt. Thanks Chris you are a genius.

The task 1 is the 30% of the test and the essay the 70%.. at least that is was someone told me.
