I've recently started writing my own novel, and this video was an immense amount of help c: I was debating on going back and editing, but many people said to just finish it, so I guess I'll try to do it. I did already go back one time to shift the plot, add and delete scenes, and just today was talking with a friend to help character development. XP The rest of the video was foreign to me, but mark my words, in a few years, I'll be back.

@J3ff33 I'm glad you asked ^-^ It takes place in a fantasy/sci-fi world where this boy named Taylor basically goes on a quest finding the people he needs to complete a prophecy. (I know that's a cliche, I plan to tweak it.) I really need to delete irrelevant scenes and make it fit more of a genre, it's kind of lacking in that sense.

I've personally been working on this massive, interconnected universe with tons of smaller stories all making up the universe. I also have loads of character bios and dossiers for over 100 characters of varying importance. I've also been writing out small individual scenes that will ultimately make up a whole story.

I have a pad of paper with 200 pages dedicated to a single dialogue scene that introduces an important character. I am the kind of writer who has to determine where things are going by the middle before I can write the beginning. I am giving myself until September 15th to write the scene. I can't wait to be writing at my full speed.

Hey Shaelin, I'm writing my first book. It will be a fantasy book for ages 10-14. I'm using a fourteen year old protagonist (Though I'm considering changing him to a thirteen year old protagonist who will be turning fourteen soon) and am unsure whether to mark it as a middle grade fantasy or a YA fantasy. I'm planning on the protagonist being older in future books (ages 16, 17) that will definitely be YA, and the series getting a bit darker as time goes on. Would you mark it as Middle grade or YA?

As a very unprofessional writer, I would recommend that you write out smaller scenes that will make up your story. I'm doing that myself and I'm too early in the process to know if it will work or not.

Great Video! I have many different ideas but can't really decide where to start. My grandparents told me stories about their parents and grandparents so I have basic ideas for some stories. My grandmother's grandmother used to tell her stories about life during the Civil war (That is one possible storyline) and also each of my grandparents lives during the great depression (my grandpa grew up in a Mill Village (urban setting) and my grandmother grew up on a farm. Any tips that you can help me with. Thank you so much!

Well I thought I was gonna start writing my first book this summer, But then cleaning up, I found one of my old stories from back in my teens (when I used to write and my Dream began) and it was a little more then 48.000 words! I’d already (almost) written a book! I just never realized because, At the time I was counting pages and not words. It is ofcourse horrible, and i’m not gonna finish it. Though now I’ve started writing my new story, and it Doesn’t Seem that scary any more - except that now I’m gonna try to write while beeing a mum of two, and I guess that’s what’s gonna be my Real Challenge, while I originally thought it was gonna be the amount of words.

I was hoping for at least one tutorial where they show us some writing of a book even if the story sucks... AT LEAST ONE TUTORIAL... I kept looking over the useless internet and nobody makes a tutorial... I don't want people's opinion... I want TUTORIALS. Can you show us how you work in some program and explain every single thing while sharing the screen so we can see what you are actually doing?

I've written several unpublished children's picture books, unaired television pilots, unproduced stageplays, a couple screenplays, a young adult scifi novella, loads of scenes from years ot theatre (which one day I'll compile into something like "Spoon River"), and hundreds of Quora posts. ;-P However, I am currently writing my first attempt at mid-grade novel writing. The lead is a 4th grade girl, and all of the students I work with whom I spoke to about it, love the concept. So, at least I know my target audience, right? Lol

Thanks, I usually have to ask Yahoo! science and get beaten around a bit. I'm still working on matter spray. Don't judge me. It's for the strange sounds that happen on large ships in space due to the vacuum of space. I know there's no sound in space, but I was apparently correct when I said sound might change on large ships due to other factors .I assume a future society would know how to even things out with different materials, but I am trying to be clever. It's better than my diamond ship or immortal fungus. The diamond ship would break a part. I've read a geology book since then. The immortal fungus came from the orange stuff that came out of my screen and made me believe in dinosaurs controlling the universe. I know I'm crazy. Anyway, I also know, after reading a . biology textbook that we will find tiny things in space in greater numbers not bigger. Oh well.
