You forgot the most important step, which is to record the check number, amount, and payee in the check registry, then subtract it from the running balance, so you can keep track and not send more than you have.

Writing "one hundred and thirty dollars" is considered incorrect for checks. The reason is that, in formal English, particularly in financial and legal contexts, the word "and" is used to denote the decimal point. Therefore, "and" should only appear before the cents portion (e.g., "one hundred thirty dollars and 69/100").
