You videos are helping me immensely. I have a question about past tense and keeping everything in that order. An example sentence for me to understand better. A/The warm sun shimmered, with a mild breeze in the air. I noticed nature coming alive and the butterlys and bees returning to their home . NOW Shimmered is past tense but Coming and returning is not, does this mess up the sentence. ? thanks in advance .
@WorldwideSpeak3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind words! I am so glad that the videos are helping you. You ask an interesting question here. In your example sentence, the words "coming" and "returning" are in the "ing" or gerund form. It is common to use a verb in its gerund (or -'ing") form after verbs of perception such as "notice" (as in your example) or "saw," "heard", or "observe." This gives the idea that the activity was in progress at the time that you noticed it. Nature was in the process of coming alive when you noticed it. When you noticed the bees, they were involved in the action of returning to their home at that time. If you haven't already, you may want to watch our video about narrative tenses. There is a lot to learn about this topic, but this gives an introduction. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5upmpeEa6x8qNk Good luck!

Hello can i ask something? Can the characters on a narrative paragraph only be made by myself? Like not based on real names?
@WorldwideSpeak3 жыл бұрын
That is a great question. It really depends on the writing assignment or the purpose of your paper. Typically, in our program, we want the students to write about their own experiences. But, you may need to write a fictional story for some class in which the characters would be made up. Hope this helps!

@WorldwideSpeak4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. Have you tried brainstorming ideas? Think about as many different events that have happened to you as you can in a 15 minute period. Write them down on a piece of paper. When you finish, circle the top 2 or 3 that might make a good story. Then, from those 2 or 3 - try to write ideas down for each one. The one that is the easiest for you and can give you the most detail would be the one to write about. Hope this helps!

Please could u correct that for me Hitchhiking Sometimes, life forces us to live new experiences we have never imagined before, I got my baccalaureate degree with excellence. I live in Marrakesh, but I chose to complete my studies in a special school near to Settat city. On day, I finished my thought sessions at 6:00 p.m, I was headed to the bus with my friend, suddenly she felt dizzy. I took her to the bathroom and she started to threw up. I looked at my watch and I jumped out of my skin it was 6:20 p.m. All the buses are gone. After a while of running, we stopped in a place devoid of people, just passing cars with full speed, and tears covering our faces, it really was a moment of panic. Minutes later, a mini bus stopped for us, and we got in without thinking of consequences, all we wanted is to leave that void. When we reached the city, we sat near the road for almost an hour, we could not move even though the house was just about two minutes. Thank god im a live, it was the first and the last time hitchhiking.
