This video really helped me finish my poetry assignment for college. Thank you!

Thank you Josie, you chose a show that I just loved and was raised on from the very first episode. And you used the words in a way that made it understandable. The way you changed the words, the way you put the lines together, thank you so much.

Thanks Linda - I think you have to play with the words and meanings with pantoums because they can be a bit full on otherwise!

I'm a Javanese Malay from Singapore. We called it Pantun. An example of a classic Malay Pantun : Buah Cempedak di luar pagar, Ambil galah tolong jolokkan, Saya budak baharu belajar, Kalau salah tolong tunjukkan. Translation Where jackfruit grow without the fence, Go prod them gently with a stake, A youthful learner I, so hence, Be please to point out each mistake.

@JosieAlfordPoet You're most welcome :) Pantun is also used as lyrics for traditional Malay songs.

Thank you so much for this tutorial! I am currently working on writing a pantoum in one of my college writing courses and I needed just a little more understanding of it. I personally dug your Star Trek poem. Live Long and Prosper! 🖖

Sometimes maintaining a KZbin channel about such a niche topic like poetry is kinda hard. This comment makes it all worth it. Glad I could help - good luck on your course!

I liked your pantoum. It entertained me and I smiled at the wit within it. And your explanation of the form was very good too, especially the benefits of using enjambement and slightly tweaking the lines to allow more wiggle room within the confines of the form. 👍 👍

Well, I do like your poem, I now feel inclined to learn more about 'pantoum' and may well sign up for a one session online course where I first heard the word 'pantoum'

Terrific tutorial. This form is above my pay grade as a novice poet. Not sure I like the confining format, in any case. But thanks for the clear explanation.

Thanks so much Josie, I've watched a lot of your video's recently and they've been really helpful. I'm just starting my journey with this medium and you've really helped. I use the site "The Poetry Cove" to get help and share my poetry. If you haven't already please give it a look. You would be invaluable on there. I am going to try a Pantoum, thanks to your help - wish me luck!

The taller the bamboo tree, the closer to the earth it leans. The further my native land, the stronger my longing. Plus grand est le bambou plus bas il s’incline. Plus lointain mon pays plus profondes mes racines. semakin tinggi pokok buluh semakin rendah ia merunduk semakin jauh tanah airku semakin terasa akar dan rindu

TNG or DS9? Hmmmm .....I'm torn. Interesting video - really enjoyed it.

Thanks Gill. It's definitely DS9 for me

The Next Generation for me... but, honestly, it's what I grew up on, so that crew is like my fam. Also, watching Captain Jean Luc Picard act is like watching a Shakespearean play (which I love) so how can I not say TNG lol
@JosieAlfordPoet3 жыл бұрын
See I never grew up watching them (I think I was slightly too young to get into it) so approaching it as an adult I just enjoy DS9 better - I think it has a stronger overall cast

I will allow it as voyager is a close second for me. Captain Janeway is everything.
