AMAZING, so helpful, specially for those starting out now!! I remember when I started working in production, 10 years ago, and this information was difficult to find. You'd either have to enroll expensive filmschool (which gave you no guarantees of sharing this detailed info) or you'd have to spend time working for a production company, based on trial and error. Thank you for sharing in such a detailed and clear manner!

This is great Thank you, but how do you include the video examples exactly? I saw the templates which look great but can you upload the video there and send it as a document so they will be able to see the video so it can be like an interactive proposal, or do you just put in a link for them to put in a browser? I'm a little confused on how the client would be seeing the videos throughout and how it would be delivered for them to see it?

Do you charge people for the creative proposal? I'm a bit confused on that since it's going to take a great amount of time to put together a creative proposal that's customized to their needs. Iff they back out that wouldd be a lot of time lost. I'm just wondering on that bit.
@garrettsammons4 жыл бұрын
Great question! You can build it into your budget, but wouldn’t charge separately for it. When it comes to pitching the creative part of the proposal, it should be a broad overview, not something that’s extremely detailed like a preproduction kit. Sometimes you bid on work and don’t get it. That isn’t time lost. It’s experience gained for the next bid. Eventually, you learn which bids to take on because you’ll have a good sense for which ones you can win. In general, the creative bids come after an initial RFP. It’s a step two if they like what they see.

Great video. Question tho. I realize this is a pretty old video... but do you not add in a percentage for overhead expenses to the total project amount? Or is it baked into your rates- so it doesn't look weird when the client sees it on the proposal? Thanks

@garrettsammons4 жыл бұрын
Great question Gio! You're absolutely right. It takes practice, but eventually you learn which bids you have a good shot at landing and which you don't. You can then prioritize which RFPs you respond to. That said, filling out RFPs is quite literally "the cost of doing business". Having a set template for your budget, proposal, and contract makes it much faster and easier to respond to RFPs.
