I know this has been an emotional week for you with the passing of Carmen, and it must of been very hard for you to put together a video for all of us, but you did it Steve. You found the inner strength to get it done and Carmen would be proud. Everyone loves your 'How To' video's and it was nice to see you bust out some of your silly self, even though you weren't feeling very humorous this week. Dad and I are so very proud of you and your dedication to your fans and supporters. R.I.P. to our dear friend Carmen Sorge.

Carmen wouldn't want to be the reason why I didn't do a video this week. So instead, I've decided to use him as motivation to push harder. It's what he would want me to do. Luckily, when the camera is rolling, I turn back into my normal self! Thank you EVERYONE for the encouragement this week. I really needed it. Love you all!

That's true, what he said, and also Steve does very similar things with a wide range of solos in all different keys so he pretty much already has all this stuff in his head.

Improvising by definition is "coming up with a melody on spot without looking at a sheet music." Just practice the scales and arpeggios and chords and you'll eventually get it right. So no it's not unreal you just need to practice a lot and have dedication.

Steve, I love how you simplify something and many times reduce it to a formula or process. Some musicians would be offended, and accuse you of insulting their creativity, but I think even most human nature is predictable and can be reduced to (a not so simple) formula or process. I mean, we all learn to walk by pretty much the same process, but we don't all walk the same. I think your solo was very creative and your method is very helpful. As always, I enjoyed your video and hope to see many more.

Just put away your guitar, listen to the backing track and hum the first melody in your head into your phone. Then, listen to it, find the tones on the guitar and record

Man! Absolutely sick shreddage-riff-ery! Keep doing your thing Stevie T! It's awesome to see that you are exercising your talents exponentially! I personally have always been somewhat picky when it comes to riffs, solos and other forms of artistry in a song. So it's nice to hear your stuff and to know that it's gonna be crisp, clean, sharp, full and not over embelished so fantastic job with all your work! Keep on ROCKIN' on Stevie! 🤘🤘🤘🤘

You crack me up. Your humour is like a mask for how awesome a player you are. So when you shred it projects the assumption that it must be super easy to be a virtuoso.

I'm 52 and this is completely different to how I learned to track due to the advent of digital technology. I generally went for the entire take and hoped I'd hold it together until the end and drop in if I (invariably) messed up. This was all on analog equipment using tape and hold habits die hard I guess. I do utilize the technology and track differently these days but I feel like I'm cheating. Sometimes I'd record 4 or 5 different takes of a solo and then edit it down to a composite of the best bits but editing on tape is not to be done with anything less than maximum attention and care. Non destructive editing is brilliant by the way and there's no reason not to use every advantage because it makes it far easier to comp a great solo and that's a good thing.

Pretty sure given a few hours Stevie could learn to play that in one take. People still do play live after all and Stevie is one of the better guitarists out there. This is just a natural way to WRITE for people who prefer to work by ear rather than off a page.

Yeah, that is I do it too. I record all my solos in one run. I learn some parts by heart and for the fast licks I just remember position or frets where I like how it sounds and they are usually entirely or partly improvised.
