Spot on, Charles. Sometimes I'll sit at the keyboard and say I haven't written anything in E-minor. Or will say what about a song in 3/4 instead of 4/4 all the time? Sometimes I'll start with a rhythm in the left hand and see where that leads, or sometimes I'll have a hook phrase and work from there... there is no one way to write a song, man. Genius video here; very helpful to beginning songwriters. Excellent video..

Thank you so so much for this video Charles I really needed it. I am trying to work on my first properly produced song at the moment and this week I realised I was over complicating it so much.

Of course, you're very welcome. It's always best to go back to the basics when things get complicated.

very motivating Charly gives me at least a structure to work with,, but of course at first I need to get over my doubts about my abilities.. as we all do.. as beginners. I have never yet managed to finish a song completely ... but it is early days .. you stay safe and take care now..

It would be nice if you could make a video on how to put melodies on lyrics (when we came up with lyrics first). 🙂

Hey Charles, In regards to your drum training on Saturday, who would you say that training is for [someone with absolutely no experience in making any kind of tracks (a complete novice who doesn't even know how to use Logic Pro,) or someone with a little experience.] Also, is it for someone who only has GarageBand and doesn't even have experience using that? Lastly, what does the drum training entail? Thanks!

Hi Josh, I will absolutely make it beginner friendly. I will be using Logic in the session but it will be transferable in GB and you can of course ask any questions you would like. There will be a large portion to q&A.

Thank you Charlie the system does have merit. I do find the lyrics the hardest part in that not having to many words for each bar but it is worth keeping at it. Thank you for your help.

You're welcome Alan, I also agree the lyrics are the hardest part.
