One of my biggest challenges to writing a cover letter is not writing it out, but believing that the party who will be reading it will view it as a fair prospect for thieir empty position. I have put time and effort into each resume and cover letter and application and I fail to get any word back from anyone. I am so frustrated , that I am on the verge of moving from my community. I realize that I live in a small to medium size university town in Florida and this has been a very challenging year with all that our dear country has been through, but I sometimes feel like loosing hope. He is coming from an area of work that was more "blue collar" and not technical. This is a career change for him. He just completed two AAS degrees both honors. Cover letters are literally a load of shit, they don't provide any relevant information that isn't already in the resume and they never get read anyway. The only places that I've gotten jobs I've never provided cover letters, only providing a resume, yet I've been knocked back so many times when I HAVE given a cover letter. Thank you for this. What advice can you provide for providing cover letters when applying for jobs online though? Oftentimes, the company offering the job has online forms that simply require for fields to be populated with info, i.e. Name, Address, Phone, etc., and drop-down menus where you simply select an option such as "yes" or "no", then a field to type a cover letter. In those instances, an applicant has no control over formatting, font options, etc..

It is also good to say something along the lines of "I would be happy to discuss this or any additional opportunities within your organization." This lets the recruiter know that you would be open to other positions within the company. The more you are flexible, the more they will go out of their way to consider you for something. Is it advisable to place a visual timeline of an individual's skill(relative to the job opening) and how it grows over the years in a cover letter? Instead of wordy approach in explaining value propositions?

In my career cover letters are still an essential part of the application process. They are quite detailed as you are always required to respond to the selection criteria. Always required to write 3-4 pages as that is usually how much the employer asks for.

Very good and informative video on the basics of understanding a cover letter.. So you suggest any ideas for applying to multiple businesses that are almost in no relations. Example a dispesay or just a store that may not like mmj. Should I create 2 especially w that job history when I don't need normal stores knowing my personal info

Hello, I was wondering If I need one these in today time? I hear it isn't something you should do since employers are tired of the hiring process already. But, I know someone personally who doesn't submit cover letters and is currently employed. What does that say? I am applying for big entertainment companies at the moment what is your advice? I also do not have years of experience in the field I am applying for.

Great question! Yes, I believe cover letters are still super necessary. Even if the company doesn't ask for one. It gives you the chance to think about and write about your career story. Like, why do you want the job, where you are now in your career, where are you going, etc... Does that help!
