I have been listening to your videos ever now and then for the past two years. I remember the first time hearing you said “writers block» thinking, yes that’s a real thing. Today when I heard you say «writersblock» I thought; how is that even possible. Material is everywhere! Thanx for all the tips. ❤

Constriction enhances creativity helps a lot in photography too. Most beginner photographers want a zoom lens when a fixed non-zoom lens can be their best friend.

"Constriction" is like the river-bed; the canyon of earth & stone that *is* the force of resistance _neccessary_ to drive the waters from the mountain to the sea... Or the jokes from the Mind to the paper! 😁👍

Great video! Would love to see a video on how to come up with punchlines. I've noticed in longer bits comedians will weave in multiple punchlines as well if the premise is too long so they have 2 or 3 smaller laughs until the big punchline. And then even after the big laugh they have another quick tag to keep them laughing. Any advice is appreciated, thanks for all you do!

Great video, Jerry! Loved the joke about your friend's Dad teaching him to pee in a Gatorade bottle while doing 65. Made me laugh out loud too. Reminds me of something my Dad would do...could write a whole set on that alone! Cheers!

Whats up doc? I recently did my first open mic. last night actually. I used many of your vids to help get me acclimated to actually writing jokes. so thank you for that. One quick question tho...Im writing subtitles for the crap vid i got of it and there is one joke where I use the words peaked/peeked in a joke where you think i mean peaked but it turns out I meant peeked. How should I write it for subtitles?
@JerryCorley2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment Mike. With regard to the the subtitles, I kinda know what you’re talking about. I would probably use quotation marks for the misdirected version of “peaked” (peeked) Then no quotes when it’s revealed that you are using peeked. I have a similar dilemma with a joke I do where the wordplay is Marry / Mary. “I was so taken aback by the size of her boobs, I named them [indicating the left breast)] ‘Marry’ [INDICATING THE RIGHT BREAST] Me.” You could also indicate in brackets [PLAY ON THE WORD Peeked]. But because it’s not dialogue and it’s subtitles for a stand up monologue, I would just use the quotes. I hope this helps

The jokes are not funny but in between when he said don't be an asshole😂😂😂that was something
@JerryCorley10 ай бұрын
Out of context they might not be funny to you, because I’m just reading them, but I’ve tested those jokes in front of several audiences and they work. The audience is always the final judge. Maybe you’re one of those people that need to hear an audience’s laughter to determine whether something’s funny or not. You should be a talent coordinator. 😂

I notice there is a lot of ahole comedians. People that offend the audience, have offensive material, hit on drunk women and basically act presidential. (The meaning of this word is currently changing) It would be interesting to hear your take on this, and you probably have some stories to tell. How to dess as l with this without getting frustrated I guess it’s a good thing to go up after them… there is a lot of buildt up tension in the room

Yeah, the dad's and grads bundling, I thought, was a good angle. Maybe as commercial as the car and home insurance bundling.

Since many kids these days are growing up without fathers, I don't make Dad jokes anymore, not because I'm a softy, but Dad jokes are just Unrelatable...
