Great videos. I just found this hidden gem of a page and boy oh boy do I wish she was still taking stories to critique or even private services because I really need help with my lyrical story. It started as a poem, turned story then rhyming story to now prose of some sort. I have been truly struggling with taking my complex words and making them accessible for children. Also, I am having a hard time showing instead of telling which is weird for me. Anyways enough with my spiel. Happy writing to you all!

I've been practicing a little bit as a beginner from writing prompts, just writing quick little passages here and there. For this one, we were asked to spend a few minutes descriptively writing about a scene involving "an old tired man [prompt]". >> The biting rain stung as needles against Bob's wrinkly skin. Harsh winds blasted his exposed face like a wall of ice. Although his heart pounded furiously against his chest, he was tired -- so tired. Grasping the letter with trembling fingers, he struggled to move against the merciless landscape. As he squinted and scanned the horizon, he realized he had such a long way to go. _I must deliver the message. I must... I must. I promised Sara, I promised..._ The promise he made to his dying daughter echoed in his mind while his muscles grew weak and his arthritic joints reminded him of a thousand previous injuries. >> Bob collapsed in the dirt. The departing leaves started to gently fall on his shriveled body, cocooning him from the icy torrent for the briefest of moments, only for them to be swept away by the relentless gusts of wind. It's a bit hasty and I suspect in great need of revision. I'm curious if it might be a bit too purple; I have difficulty telling when I've crossed that threshold with my love of poetic devices. I was tempted to write "relentless waves of wind" at the end, but thought that was too on the nose with the alliteration and decided against it.
