I had been praying a lot for a job, and one day I landed on your video, even though I'm Spanish speaker I translated everything you said and the template to Spanish and it worked amazingly. I sent this resume to a very important NGO and I was chosen today in less than a week. I had been applying for jobs there for a year and haven't had even an interview and now I have the job I have always wanted. I can't thank you and God enough because it is a miracle.

John's definitely keyword stuffing and doesn't give any indication of who he is, or what he can do. It just says a bunch of words with bullet points. Jane, on the other hand, gets to the point - she says what she does, where she did it, and how successful she was at doing it. Love it. Super helpful Andrew, as always.

Andy - I have come across your videos just over the past week or 2 - And I am hooked on your stuff! I have found your tips just in time as I'm going through a dark place of job hunting and feeling totally beat down as a single mom! You have helped me understand how I've been doing so many things wrong and wasting so much of my time by not focusing on the right things to help me be successful - Thank you for teaching me that! One of the professional "skills" I lack is summarizing/condensing information efficiently - This is such a key skill in any role that I need to work on and I admit it! Your videos have helped me to do just that. My Career Profile section went from 8 sentences (with lots of commas listing "character traits" among other irrelevant information) to now just 4-5 sentences - including 2 significant achievements. It looks so much better already. Now onto revamping the rest of my resume using your tips! Thank you so much for this video!

My goal is to get a better job and a reason why I want to a better job is because I am 55 years old and I hadn’t worked in 10 years so I know that is my biggest obstacle is preparing to say something to get me over the 10 year that I had worked so I am hoping that you can give me that kind of insight to accomplish that I went back to college and received a administration assistant degree but I have no experience outside of school. That’s the kind of field. I want to work in. Thank you.

Hi Andrew! If you are a recent college graduate with less than 1 year of professional experience, is it still a good idea to write in the Career Profile how many years you have worked? How can you give an overview of your entire career in the Career Profile when your career has just started?

I retired from a public safety agency and now I want to apply to a University for an investigators position. The position is not a typical public safety position and my previous job title did not have "investigator" in it, but it was a major function in my job. Can I use the phrase "Internal Affairs Investigator" or "Administrative Investigator" in my career profile to identify who I am even though it wasn't my official job title?

Hello Andrew! Once again thank you very much for your helpful videos! I am trying to get a job a food technology field by combining my knowledge and experience in engineering and hospitality fields, but I do not really understand if in a career profile should be written both job titles Engineer and Senior Chef to show a hiring manager that I have experience in both field.

Tatiana. Would be a good idea to check out my career changer videos to get an idea of what to put in the career profile and throughout your resume if you want to make a change like that.

I have a question for you, I am dyslexic and therefore make spelling mistakes. Should I write that I'm dyslexic? 2. Am I being rejected because of misspellings?

Maybe after you've written a résumé.. Maybe ask a close friend or family to give it a review

In the career profile, is it okay to put your experience in 2 areas?? For example, Event Planner with 7 years of experience planning short films for independent film companies and 14 years of experience as a group trip planner in my free time. This is my most direct event planning experience. Thank you for this video! It's been a big help in putting together my resume so I can start jobhunting very soon :)

Hi Andrew, Just found your channel today and did subscribe :). What would you recommend for resume meant for all govt jobs - specifically, any federal jobs. Would these same tips work? Thanks.

I worked for 18 years at a company for public transportation in NY. I relocated and have been working on something completely different for 7 years. Now I found out a job opening in Transportation. Was wondering if in the resume I should list that job of 18 years first, instead of my present job? After all, that is what they are looking for. what is the advice?
@andylacivita5 жыл бұрын
List your jobs in order with most recent at top. Spend more time on your career profile and highlights showing the experience from the 18 year job!

Can you go over how to write a professional summary when your applying for a position that you don't have experience in? I changed careers last year and have gone into a totally new direction and have taken training programs but don't have the direct employment experience. How would I approach that? Thanks ~

i love how you pull out notecards like a magician! Thank you for your help! I have a question and would appreciate your opinion. I operate a small business that focuses on web design, sales, video production, and social media. I'm focusing on applying to jobs and I was wondering if I should build separate resumes for the different skill sets I have? I'm not sure if all my skills are relevant to the different jobs I'll be applying too. Thank you! :)
@andylacivita5 жыл бұрын
Daniel, thanks for the kind words. Make one resume. Put all that together. All that stuff is wonderful to have in one person! You never know how an employer might be interested in tapping your array of skills.

I used to work in retail, perfumes industry as a retail Manager, then for some reason I quit for 4 years trying to do my own business, unfortunately it didnt work well, do now am trying to get back to original career, but just dont know what to mention in my resume !? As you might know companies dont like gaps :( and they get that feeling that you ate not updated or not ready to work again in the same qualification! Thanks in advance
