Just to add a bit to what Bridger brings up here with regards to PEGs (Private Equity Groups) --- Here's the thing with Private Equity firms...they love to keep in touch with you since they are typically ALWAYS looking for acquisitions. Most (if not all) PEGs will gladly forward you their Deal Criteria sheet, describing who they, the types of deals they're looking for, and their minimum Revenue and EBITDA requirements. Usually, they seek companies with good solid cash flow (EBITDA or SDE), a relatively high percentage of recurring revenue, among others. So, you could just compile an email-distribution list of PEG contacts, and periodically email them your deals. Obviously, some PEGs seek tools-manufacturing firms, while some may be seeking healthcare firms etc. Some PEGs are industry agnostic, in that they acquire companies in multiple industries. Also, from my experience, most PEGs tend to shy away from retail (B2C --- business-to-consumer), instead preferring B2B (business-to-business) companies, although there are of course exceptions to the rule.

Bridger gives an excellent strategy here. Technically, you don't even need a fund to implement the strategy in the video. I don't know if you guys have heard of the concept of a virtual roll up but some groups are using the concept pretty effectively. They simply go to a Private equity group and find out their buying criteria as mentioned in the video. Then they go out and find businesses in that industry and get the owners to agree to sell as a part of a package with other owners for a higher profit. They package those businesses up in a special purpose vehicle and they sell the package to the Private equity group. These groups are doing this without raising any funds or buying any businesses.

Can you share resources on how to find (more efficiently) a list of PEGs ? The method I know of and currently use mainly consist of searching Twitter and trying to find mentions on Wikipedia.

Could you go more into “ghosting” for an investment thesis? Is this just as simple as setting up a smaller scale to prototype the thesis?

Hey Bridger, You talk about Alpha a lot. Do you have a video defining what you mean by "alpha"? And how does one find a P.E. fund to call to line up deals like this? I don't run in the fund circles yet, where are those contacts?
