I have to agree with Tom about the divorce. My ex husband and i tried to stay together for our son. Once we got divorced my son came to me about a year later and said "I'm so glad you and dad got divorced. I've never seen you so happy" I cried that night thinking about how our marriage may have affected him. It still brings tears to my eyes to this day.

I am so glad you had Tom on the pod. He's one of the funniest guys out there. I do feel like I owe him an apology, though. All those years ago, when that nasty crap was going on, and he was being torn down in the media, I believed it. I did figure out that it was crap quite a while ago, but for the few years that I believed it, I disregarded his talent and how much I enjoyed his work. It's been a while since I figured out that I was very wrong, but it just hit me while watching this that I should apologize. My thoughts may not affect him at all, because I've never had the chance to meet him and I'm not sure I ever will, but it felt like the right thing to do. I am truly a fan of his, and I have enjoyed his work for a long time. I hope you guys do work together on something. This episode is super important. It’s vital for parents to be honest with children about taboo topics when they come up at a very impressionable age, especially when other kids have the potential to sway them. I sadly never had that privilege, I was incredibly sheltered and scolded whenever I brought that stuff up. Children are far more brilliant and intuitive than many of us give them credit for. It’s true that most actors (at least the ones I know and/or worked with) have moments of lavish wealth and moments of sheer one bedroom appartement poverty. And during covid it was also the crew. So many Crew mates had to remortgage their house (against insane interests rates) or sell the house. And an actor has a disadvantage, most of us crew members have a marketable skill. If I program tools for vfx or program tools for a bank is the same thing. Actors often have a drama school background and that’s not really a marketable skill. And when people hire an actor especially someone more known, it comes across as a gimmick or the actor goes into the tabloids withstood titles like: “bankrupt has been”. So it’s not easy to take a job in the service industry or any non-entertainment role really.

I've loved Tom Arnold since I was like 13! This is the most relatable podcast for parents these days. I've had all of these talks with my almost 13&15 year old girls. Some words I've tabled until they're adults but just say why and a vague definition just like Tom said "it's sexual" and don't say it.
