Actually they start as swirls adjacent to a jet stream and branch out, against the flow, along the tropopause. Sometimes they eventually channel down to cause a storm. Vortices from jet streams cause all of the above, including supercells.

Tornados actually form from the ground up, the hot air escapes from the ground up in the event of the right conditions and are usually found in supercells that hold the perfect conditions for a tornado. The reason why tornados form from the cloud is because of the rotating hot air escaping to the moisture, it brings it down which makes it visible. Thank God for making them visible.
@vickryan5 күн бұрын
imagine tornado that are invisible. Gee whizz. Nightmare scenario. I guess you could still see the storm clouds above you. Then again, what if tornadoes formed on perfectly sunny clear days, and they were invisible. That's a nightmare scenario.
@RottenCoyote2 күн бұрын
This is how dust devils form. Not tornados. Tornados are formed by warm and cool air mixing in the sky, and forming into a funnel of a sort of horizontal tunnel in the sky. This actually happens all the time, however, if the conditions are correct, it will knock the funnel off balance, and that's when it will touch down. Correct me if I'm wrong

Tornadoes can be found in the mid western United States. These type of storms form tornadoes, but only if they're also in specific conditions in places. The super cell clouds that tornadoes needed to form reaches about 50,000ft or higher. They form when cool dry air from Canada and hot moist air from Mexico clash together with winds to create a vicious storm which eventually becomes a tornado. Their speed is about 500kmh or higher.
@The_Joshuan_Empire10 ай бұрын

@spaulding30423 сағат бұрын
You described how thunderstorms are made. Tornadoes needs an up draft which creates the mesocyclone, forward flanking downdraft that brings rain and hail, a rear flanking down draft of cool dry air, an inflow that pulls in hot moisture, and the strongest ones have a flanking line convection. These conditions above are only made with a high amount of cape, and specific to a particular geolocation; windshear, humidity level, and dew point.

That's not how tornadoes form but, You are correct about a non-tornadic type of tornado with is known as the "Land spout" So what are land spouts? Well you see, Land spouts are tornado-like phenomena that form over land. They are typically smaller and weaker than traditional tornadoes. Land spouts share some characteristics with tornadoes, such as a rotating column of air, but they have a different formation process. Unlike supercell tornadoes, which develop within severe thunderstorms, land spouts often form from the ground up and are associated with less intense weather conditions. They are generally less destructive than larger, more powerful tornadoes. Land spouts are still capable of causing damage, but they are usually less severe in comparison. And how do they form? Well apparently, Land spouts typically form in fair weather conditions or from relatively weak thunderstorms. Here's a simplified explanation of their formation: 1. **Convection:** Land spouts often start with the upward movement of warm air near the surface. This can be due to local temperature differences or the presence of a boundary, like a sea breeze or outflow boundary. 2. **Rotation:** As the warm air rises, it can start to spin horizontally due to wind shear or other factors. This spinning air can become tilted into a vertical position. 3. **Stretching:** When the rotating air is tilted vertically, it begins to stretch and elongate, forming a funnel-like structure. 4. **Touchdown:** If the spinning air column continues to strengthen and extend downward, it can make contact with the ground, forming a visible funnel cloud. 5. **Land Spout:** Once the rotating funnel cloud touches the ground, it is officially considered a land spout. Land spouts are usually much weaker than traditional tornadoes and are often shorter-lived. Unlike supercell tornadoes, which form within severe thunderstorms with well-defined updrafts, land spouts have a different genesis and are generally less intense. They are often associated with fair-weather conditions or weaker thunderstorms and can be difficult to predict. What are they related to? They are mostly related to another non-tornadic type of tornadic known as a "Dust Devil" What is a Dust Devil? Dust devils are small, rapidly rotating columns of air that pick up dust and debris from the ground, creating a visible vortex. They are a type of atmospheric phenomenon and are often seen in arid or desert regions with hot, sunny weather. Dust devils are typically associated with the heating of the ground, which causes localized pockets of warm air to rise rapidly. Here are some key characteristics of dust devils: 1. **Formation:** Dust devils form when the ground heats up, creating a temperature difference between the surface and the cooler air above. As the hot air near the ground rises, it can start to rotate horizontally. 2. **Rotation:** The rising hot air can become tilted and begin spinning, forming a rotating column of air. This spinning column can pick up loose dust, sand, or debris from the ground. 3. **Appearance:** Dust devils often appear as tall, skinny funnels or columns of swirling dust. They are typically not as wide or as destructive as tornadoes. 4. **Duration:** Dust devils are usually short-lived and dissipate relatively quickly, especially if they move over uneven terrain. 5. **Wind Speed:** While dust devils can have noticeable wind speeds, they are generally much weaker than tornadoes. Dust devils are a fascinating natural phenomenon to observe, but they are not as powerful or destructive as tornadoes. They are more common in regions with dry and hot conditions, where the ground can become very warm, promoting the development of these swirling columns of air. Dust Devil's are usually harmless with a Maximum wind speed, but they can somehow become big and harmful. Here's how normal tornados form! Normal tornadoes, also known as supercell tornadoes, form through a complex set of atmospheric conditions within severe thunderstorms called supercells. Here's a simplified explanation of how they form: 1. **Ingredients:** Tornadoes require specific ingredients to form, including warm, moist air at the surface and cool, dry air aloft. These conditions create instability in the atmosphere. 2. **Supercell Formation:** Tornadoes are most commonly associated with supercell thunderstorms, which are large, rotating thunderstorms with a well-defined updraft. Supercells are often characterized by their anvil-shaped cloud formations. 3. **Updraft Rotation:** Within a supercell, there is a strong, rotating updraft called a mesocyclone. This rotation is essential for tornado development. It can be initiated by wind shear, which causes horizontal rotation to tilt vertically. 4. **Wall Cloud Formation:** As the mesocyclone's rotation intensifies, it can create a lowered cloud base called a wall cloud. This is a key visual indicator that a tornado may be imminent. 5. **Funnel Cloud:** From the wall cloud, a rotating, funnel-shaped cloud called a funnel cloud may extend downward. This is still above the ground and not in contact with it. 6. **Tornado Touchdown:** If the conditions are right, the funnel cloud can extend all the way to the ground, becoming a tornado. Once it touches down, it can cause significant damage. 7. **Life Cycle:** Tornadoes can vary in size and intensity, and their life cycles can range from a few seconds to several hours. They may change in size, shape, and intensity during their existence. It's important to note that tornado formation is a complex process, and meteorologists use radar and other tools to monitor and predict tornadoes. Tornadoes are highly unpredictable and can be extremely dangerous, so it's crucial to follow local weather warnings and take shelter when necessary to stay safe. But that's how Land spouts form not the normal tornadic Supercell tornados. Some people ask "What is tornadic?" "Tornadic" is an adjective related to tornadoes. It is used to describe something that is characteristic of or associated with tornadoes. For example, "tornadic activity" refers to the presence or occurrence of tornadoes in a particular area. I do know a lot about tornados and so do you when you read this whole entire comment!
