Thank-you...Brian, yes hand built Wood boats are rare these days. I Live in beautiful Mayo, Florida. Seminole Indians here still build canoes only they use one large log from Cypress tree. They burn log and scrape out the hull. Form shape as they work. Canoes last 100 or more years. One canoe was found on bottom of Silver springs in Ocala, Florida in good shape, They say it could be 300 years old. I really enjoy your findings. Thanks again. Tad.

Love seeing old crafts passed down through generations ,Iwas lucky being raised and taught by my grandfather so my work is out of place in this age of computers .Still its important to preserve the old skills and appreciate heart mind and soul being part of a product in this world throwaway consumerism!

I'm with you Brian that work and those type of tools are fantastic. It looked like that shallow gouge was in the family for generations. I'll take 2 28ft hulls and catamaran time. Of course you need a place to launch from and beach.

Likewise admiring the craftmanship and if that hull is carved out from a solid piece of wood, it must be durable and sturdier, compared to boats which bodies were just pieced together, no doubt. I would greatly appreciate the disclosure of the place of business and how he may be contacted by interested parties. Thanks in advance.

Very impressive. If you was to get one unfinished and if they have the stuff they're rap it in fiberglass. That's what they do in the States on the wooden boats it will last forever. If no fiberglass just keep the painted regularly.
@jsuan25

I think our ancestors dont use paint and no need for a fibreglass as long as the wood that was used is the ironwood or we call it Sudjang and its moist free. 9 Balangay boats and a 1 Mother boat found in Butuan, Philippines. The mother boat was actually 82 ft tall and has 120 rowers each side matching the description of Pigafetta (chroniclers of Magellan). When they dug it there are still some sea water inside and surprisingly the wood was still intact. check it in KZbin.
