One thing to add is that apparently the Cybertron scene on Bumblebee was apparently made last minute since beforehand because Bumblebee was meant to be a prequel but then the last knight happened and re-shoots and it ended up being a reboot. Megatron was supposedly going to have 2 scenes, one Cybertron and in the post credits where is frozen in the ice at Sector 7.

Like ROTB prime, it had bits of the og trilogy look like the face, truck eyebrows on the chest, silver hands, and energon blades and axe. Bayverse design is indeed realistic, a huge planet that can still sustain life and existing for billion of years will make the species evolved till reaching the potential of being mechanical indicating it's evolution. Returning to it being a huge planet, bigger than Earth means they look differently when they were fleshes and less humanoid unlike G1 they are mostly inspired by human form which is really unrealistic interms of science evolution.

I still see where Bay was coming from, I always interpreted what he was saying as a literal 1:1 adaptation of all the G1 looks would look stupid as hell, which yeah, it would. Ultimately I see Knight's approach more as a natural evolution of what Bay established rather than the dramatic overhaul fans play it up as. That said, the first three Bay movies still have the superior transformations compared to Bumblebee or ROTB.

However, Despite this was kinda cute, it lead to one of the WORST tropes in Modern Transformers Media, the Infamous EVERGREEN DESIGNS *before John Warden came in table, We had projects like the Unicron Trilogy, the Aligned Continuity, the IDW comics, etc. Where the designs wete bastly different, to the point that sometimes Optimus had Red Eyes while Megatron Had Blue Eyes* Unfurtunately since John Warner became Branding Manager we only have Monotone G1 Design Copy & Pasted in everywhere, It was cute at first but know is Tiring, & the worst part us that he's doing now the SAME thing with Power Rangers 😑

I think the reason mainly for the push against the Bay designs originally was because of one reason: we hadn't had any representation of the original designs or any of the 84 robots in mainstream media for over a decade. We had some cameos in Beast Wars back in the 90's, but RID and the Unicron Trilogy re-invented the characters in a lot of different ways. So when news broke that the designs were going to be drastically different, that stung a lot. Writing death threats about it was dumb as hell, though. Nowadays, people look back on the bay designs with a bit of nostalgia now because we have SO many G1 inspired designs and characterizations, almost to the point of oversaturation, but back then it felt like Hasbro was throwing names on designs at random so they could keep the trademark. (Which they were. Not complaining about it, I'm honestly indifferent to the random name usage.)

I think the bayverse designs (particularly optimus) while a bit too complex at first, were readable as transforming from vehicles in the first three films. Then Age of Extinction happened and I felt that was way too much. You can barely tell he transformed from a truck. They look too smooth and human instead of alien and angular. It's the same problem I had with Iron Man's armor evolution.

i think michael bay's depiction of the transformers is actually pretty close to what the bots might look like if they landed on earth, they would have weird ass body shape and ratio like how optimus has them long ass legs and starscream looks like a dorito. I think the only good part about AoE is the cgi and the fact that the bots started to remodel themselves to look like humans. But still i prefer the designs in knightverse

The first 3 bay movies were some of the most pleasing movies for me. I love the G1 designs, they're cool and all, but when almost every iteration after G1 till the Bayverse tries to copy that G1 look, it gets old and seems like a recycled idea. The G1 theme in the newer movies are amazing I'm not gonna lie, but it was nice to see other designs being implemented onto the transformers. Michael Bay outdid himself with the robot designs, I feel like they represent how a transformer would actually look like with all the parts moving and shifting, and still being visible in robot mode. While the last 2 movies from Michael Bay were...a turn. The first 3 for me are the sweet spot. Even when the robots transform quickly, they still have enough detail to make it fluid (for example, Sentinel Prime running away after killing Ironhide).

ROTB Optimus resembles more of the Mark Yang concept art from the BBM that was used for Studio Series 38 Voyager figure, and the proportions are different; blocky and less slim than the sleek design of BBM Prime.

Personally, I love both g1 and bayverse designs. There are a lot of designs that I prefer from bayverse and the new rebooted universe designs. For me personally, most of the bayverse designs especially from the first trilogy is really cool and good but not great or perfect enough since some of those designs are a little bit busy which I do agree with the other Transformers fans. The only bayverse designs that are perfect and not busy and still look cool and unique are the Jazz and sideswipe designs.... Imo, I personally think that the perfect designs would be would be better if the designs look realistic, cool and unique like bayverse but also clean so its not too busy or messy to look at.... But hey, this is my opinion and my preference. I do also respect the other people opinion on the transformers designs. Doesnt matter if they love bayverse or g1, as long they are the transformers fans that still supporting transformers. That is good enough. Just dont be toxic to each other by arguing over the fictional stuff.... May everyone respect each other. Till all are one!

I honestly prefer how quickly the transformations happen in the new films because it actually makes more sense. For the transformers changing form is the equivalent of flexing a muscle, its so natural that its just over with quickly unless they're specifically trying to show off.

Yeah, they transformed quickly in the original movies too. The slow ones were in scenes with little to no action, plus it allowed the artists to flex a bit which I loved. The new ones just make it seem like they are already transformed underneath the chasis, especially Bee

American trucks had flat fronts also European grills are mostly harazotal. Prime was based on the freight liner brand; In both movie and animated version.

Then there's Me who actually Loved the Original Look of 2007 Movie Megatron before the Redesign he'd end up with(still an amazing look) The original trilogy was my main bread and butter but im happy to see it persist. My complaint is that ive noticed with each film from 2007 onward the toys got lesser and lesser quality. I dont collect anymore but even by DOTM a Voyager Class Figure (Approx 20 USD at the Time) was the same size as a Deluxe figure from the 2007 Film(Approx 10 USD at the Time) I went down the toy isle for nostalgia last week and its all Brittle Unpainted Plastic not counting about the studio series ofc Thats no doubt more due to inflation but its been weird to watch from the starting point. The more Devout G1 Fans can complain all they want but the 2007 movie gave Transformers a Second Renaissance that is still being felt to this day. Many of fans who grew up watching & collecting from the start in the 80s would ride that wave on OG KZbin(07/08) and catch those like myself up on all the lore, figures and such in past. Nostalgic obviously but it was an amazing time, first figure i got back then was the Deluxe Barricade. The Revenge of The Fallen Toyline was the Best, Figures like Demolisher really innovated to try and match the Michael bay designs. I nerded out a bit but tbh ive never been upset about one thing or another with Transformers. I dont keep up anymore with it havent even seen the beast wars movie, Im simply happy to remember my good times with the Franchise. IMO as long as others are getting to enjoy their own experiences with it then im happy as a Cybertronian Clam. Plastic prices just aren’t what they used to be 🤷‍♂️ But you should still check out the mainline, it’s great, and we are (finally) breaking away from G1 and are celebrating the entire franchise! We are getting Beast wars, Armada, Cybetron, Prime, Animated, and comics versions of characters finally getting updated, alongside the studio series of course, I recommend you go to BBTS so you could at least see a good chunk of modern figures to get a _real_ feel for how it’s going, since distribution is HORRENDOUS ever since Covid.

I really hate to be that guy but, the rig that OP transforms into in ROTB is just an american flathead truck. Because it is a freightliner, and they only sell in the ADM, it is not a european style truck.

Not a truck expert, I only called it a European truck because they said Primes design in the film was based off a European truck in the behind the scenes vid so take that as you will.
