How Tre Cool uses the CHINA Cymbal (Green Day Drum Lesson)

One of my favorite aspects of Tre Cool's drumming is his cymbal sequences, specifically his use of the china cymbal. You can hear Tre cool use the china in songs such as Jesus of suburbia, 21st-century breakdown, St.Jimmy, Boulevard of broken dreams, X kid, and many more. There are four main ways Tre Cool likes to use the china cymbal. As a transition, to emphasize a verse or climax, to emphasize a word or feeling, to emphasize a word, and in combination with other cymbals.

I wish Tre didn’t get rid of that China in mid 2011-early 2012. I loved it so much. The trash smash is good but doesn’t project the same power the China provides. P.S.: That China he used was a 20” or 22” Oriental Classic China (My favorite Zildjian China)

Yeah I feel the same way!! The trash smash doesn’t sound as powerful and also doesn’t look as cool . Wow thanks for the knowledge!! I checked out Zildjian chinas on KZbin but didn’t really like the sound so I went with a wuhan China! Even though it’s cheaper it sounds really good and it sounds very similar to the China sounds in American idiot and 21st century break down
