There's always blatant Turkophobia on this channel. By not showing Turkey as a NATO member, and not even mentioning the fact that Turkey has supported Ukraine since 2014, (and was sending billions of dollars worth of arms while Germany offered to send helmets and Macron was cosying up to Putin) is done on purpose to make it seem more nefarious than it is. This was similar to the Nagorno-Karabakh situation, in which you mentioned Armenian's leaving the region after the war, but failed to mention how it was illegally annexed by Armenia and thousands of Azeris were butchered in the 90s, with several million being made refugees. If you honestly want to be a neutral channel, you need to get out of your tiny westoid Anglo-box and views of 10% of the world, and at least attempt to see how the other 90% of the world looks at geopolitics, because this is sloppy and basically propaganda.

- Even during the Cold War Era, Turkey did not allow military drills in BlackSea carried out by NATO with the strategy to avoid provoking Russia. Otherwise this area would turn into something like Persian Gulf today... NATO is sometimes becoming a military organisation to protect itself against (albeit all decisions are supposed to be unanimously taken). - Türkiye helped Georgia with building an air base, which was immediately destroyed by Russia during its annexation of Abhasia and Ossetia. - There is also a pipeline between Samsun (city in BlackSea) through Ceyhan (town in Mediterrenean Sea), which is being used by Russia together with Kazakhtan and Azerbaijan oil exports. Existence of this infrastructure significantly reduces naval demand on the Boshphorus traffic.

Take in mind that they just give a quick summary without diving deeper than surface level. Also beware of the graphs they show that can be misrepresenting e.g. showing only a period certain period of time (showing a 5 year period causing the graph to show an immense increase or decline, but if you'd look at a period of 10 years the graph would be less shocking) or starting at a graph at a high or low value (e.g. when talking about inflation rate they put the figures in a graph which bottom is 20% (in the bottom left corner) and top level is 30%(in the upper left corner), thus showing a huge shift while if it would be a graph starting at 0% going up to 50% and then put the figures in the graph it once again would show less spectaculair results. @@Turkistani stop acting like mehmet conquered parts of romania for some noble reason - he conquered a lot of Europe and other places for his (ottomans) interest. Romania has never been fully conquered by anyone and we will forever be proud of that. Greeks, Romans, Mongols, Huns, Turks, Russians, Germans and dozens of other invaders got a piece but the spirit always lived on and we got everything back. Vienna would be Istanbul today if it weren't for us and the Serbs (some argue it kinda is but they are mean 😂) Edit: I also appreciate the ottomans way of doing things with provinces they conquered - they left everyone live their life, religion, traditions and everything, they just wanted all the riches and resources. That's a far more elegant way of doing things than russians - who besides taking the riches, they immediately try to russify what they conquer like the maggots they are, with the most horrifying and evil methods possible.

Before the war I hated Erdogan, but have come to respect his diplomatic skills during the Ukraine war, and it has to be recognised what a tough spot Turkey is in with inflation and other problems. I think it's good that they have been able to use this war as leverage to improve their position and the lives of citizens, however the push towards theocratic Islam, and treatment of Kurd's is not good.
@billsmoke49196 ай бұрын
Historically, especially during the more secular governments years in the 80s and 90s, treatment of Kurds was indeed terrible - but I think a lot of western "turkiye watchers" are a little bit behind in their details on this. The current Turkish vice president, foreign minister, economics minister and minister of intelligence are all ethnic Kurds, more and more universities and academic institutions are taking up Kurdish as a official language, and millions of conversative, religious Kurds routinely vote for Erdogan and AKP party. I'm politically the opposite of this, but have to admit that Erdogan played diplomacy with millions of Kurds who reject the PKK. I think the issue with a lot of western coverage is that it presumes or represents Turkish Kurds as all being socialist separatists, this couldn't be further from the truth. They are extremely tribal, and in many cases way more conservative and Islamic than you would find in other Turkish regions.

@@Thor_Underdunk_Caballerial It's not your fault, there's a been a ton of anti-turkish focus groups which put out a lot of fake news about Turkey. Turkey has really close relations with the Kurdish Iraqi government, and they frequently engage in joint military operations against the PKK. To boil down all Kurds in the region to just the PKK is really ignorant, but most western news outlets do it repeatedly. Another thing for you to note, Erdogan is a religious nationalist, but he is not an ethnic nationalist - it's for this reason he reached out a lot more to the conservative Kurdish population and got their support in the process - whereas previous administrations would completely ignore the concept of being a Kurd and say that we're all Turks. Appreciate you having an open mind.
