yeah but he was just testing his suit. if you look at the scene prior you could see tools on his mask. that was just classic Anakin arrogance (hes more careful now that he has to wear it to begin with).

As Anakin didn’t he kill all the young Jedi at the training center? There must’ve been at least a dozen in that scene so yes that’s hard core. But Vader also saved children from the clutches of the empire when he destroyed that crystal he got from Nu so perhaps there is still a bit of good from Anakin in him
