How two brains can synchronise and why it matters - BBC News
Is collective intelligence more important than IQ and what exactly does it mean?
Internationally-acclaimed neuroscientist Dr Hannah Critchlow explains why brain synchronicity - the ability of two different brains to match their electrical brainwaves - is crucial to our future.
Dr Critchlow is based at the University of Cambridge and is the author of Joined Up Thinking: The Science of Collective Intelligence and its Power to Change Lives.

Though this was nicely presented, showing the potential positive outcomes from people connecting their brains, so to apeak, it can also work in reverse. It really should be explored with a generous amount of caution. It isn't always negative, but it can be. What about groupthink - not always so great, b/c the "group" can get stuck on reenforcing itself and lose sight of many important things. What about individual creativity? This can be enhanced, but also held back, by connecting with others.

While teams can be a good thing. I would also argue that an individual thinking outside the box, can also come up with new ideas. How many times in history has someone been ridiculed for their ideas by groups of people. To then find out that person produces the next best thing.

Definitely. I am Autistic and my experience of neurotypicals is that they do not like an honest answer nor someone who can solve difficult problems or think outside the box. If anything they become defensive and condescending as though it is a personal insult to their intellect, when in fact the offer of help is given sincerely in response to their request with the intention of offering a solution to the problem they have voiced and causing them difficulties. It is extremely frustrating when you are asked for advice about a work problem when in actual fact the individual/ individuals do not actually expect an answer and I have learned that it is a strange form of social bonding, although, in the moment my desire to help is so great in such situations that I remember too late and I am ostracized for being a know it all.

I myself am on the spectrum and do completely understand what you are saying, but what I have noticed about a lot of people, including myself. We tend to cut straight to the point and forget that a big part of normal people is that they generally put much more thought into the complex emotions. For example: Jane doe should break up with Fred doe because he drinks too much and doesn’t show much affection to her, but the a typical Jane doe knows he does care for her but is having issues at work and started drinking more heavy. Jane doe also knows as his wife she should be more supportive and try to help him be happier by letting him know that he could find another job and helping him through that transition. Maybe she has some short comings too, that she should be doing but is kicking that bucket down the road. But to there autistic kid this is short an simple, that they should just divorce. An be happier. But life isn’t that simple things can spiral into a shit hole if they go an say I want a divorce. The dad could go into a bigger spiral an drink him self to death six months later an mom no longer get money from ex husband. Autistic people tend to look at life straight to the point, and forget about the complexity. Life isn’t black an white, and life is neither good nor evil. It is a spectrum with lots complex details

@@Coreyman32488 Evidently, I understand this, however, I would not advise anyone what to do in regard to their relationship, and in my personal experience of working in an office environment with women colleagues, when subjects of this kind arise, I choose to listen rather than contribute because I am not privy to their private relationship or faults, however, it is my neurotypical colleagues who are quick to give advice and be judgemental. On one occasion an individual was discussing having an affair in her home and getting caught in bed with another man. The details of which she shared as "It's only a laugh" to everyone else's great amusement. I refrained from commenting given that it did not impact upon my life. However, the colleague in question and the other colleagues insisted that I give an opinion, I suspect in order that everyone was on board and of the same opinion. I asked several times if she wanted an honest answer because she may not want to hear what I had to say. She and my colleagues were very insistent that I contribute regardless of my protestations and embarrassment. So I did. I said, this is not a criticism. What you do in the privacy of your own home does not impact upon my life. It is a hypothetical question. How would you feel if you came home and found your husband in bed with another woman? Would it "only be a laugh" to be shared with your colleagues? Or would you be devastated? She said, I would drag her out and rip her face off. I asked why, when the girl is not in your relationship and she may not be aware of you, however, your husband is in a relationship with you? Why aren't you dragging him out and ripping his face off? Or not at all, as it is only a "laugh" after all. As I expected my colleagues were no longer laughing, but the lady in question was not offended by my reply given my pre-warning, and they all knew me well enough that I really did not care about what they they got up to because it did not affect my personal life. I never understand this kind of personal sharing between women given that those they confide in with confidence later negatively gossip about their 'friend's' situation when they are not present. The video content is in regards to team work and group collaboration and that females learn to share as children to which I have reflected upon from my own personal experience and not a criticism of individuals I have not had continual contact with.

When you think in a group, you can only think inside the box. Creative ventures and the cutting edge/entirely new concepts are impossible in a group. I'm a software engineer and i can't stand group meetings where we must come up with ideas together. I much prefer to come up with our own ideas first, _then_ meet up and discuss everyone's ideas. When I am introduced to an idea, i find it difficult to come up with something else... It's like my creativity has become tainted. I am anchored to the idea already shown to me. But if it's a blank canvas with no other ideas to go on, then my imagination is the limit...

What a load of speculative nonsense. Most of the best inventions were invented, or improved upon in a revolutionary way, by a single person at a time. The general theory of relativity, the Turing machine, Electricity, antibiotics, all the important mathematical theories... When people think by themselves, they can come up with truly unique things. In a group, you can't help but instinctively become anchored to already advocated ideas, and staying on the same wavelength (as stated in the video) with the group. Which is good with most normal things. It can help iron out issues and improve upon already established concepts, but when it comes to creative ventures, or the cutting edge; entirely new concepts... Groups are useless. As history has clearly shown. In a group, creativity is gone. Instead of speculation, why don't you give us some concrete examples of revolutionary inventions by groups?

The Ancients knew this, so they practiced THE LAYING-ON OF HANDS to transfer virtues from the greatest of society... together with other intertwined practices, the Ancients understood deeper things of the ethereal 😊

Surely, all great 'ideas', are singular in origin. There is no 'hive mind' that propels humanity forward, it is individual, isolated thoughts, that open the doors to possibility. Einstein, Freud, even as far back as Euclid and beyond. A collective consciousness may exist, but that is simply the product of love of life itself, please do not erase the beauty of individuality *

I am not a religious person but I know a little of the Christian bible and I say, Jesus knew this when he directed, Whenever 2 or 3 of you are gathered together, I am with you, also later works like Napeloen Hill and the Master Mind practice to gather 2 or more minds together to find solutions and make changes or progress. It is nice to know not only are thoughts real things but they can be harmonized. Something that has in fact been practiced for centuries.

We’ve yet to see any proof of QM effects in human to human comms. Be exciting if it happens of course, Nobel guaranteed; but it’s not happened yet.

Takeaway: adopt the placid, female hive mind (regardless of individual intelligence & productivity) so we can transfer our skills to each other and then to machines (a bit iRobotesque)
