Also I would like to point out that the next step for Kratos will be to prove that he can be a unifier. A guardian. A god of war who fights to protect his land not conqueror others. So what would be dope to me is if another Pantheon waged war on Midgard in an attempt to kill Kratos because they see him as a threat now that he's reclaimed his title as God of war.

Yep; I said that when it first dropped. The DLCs proved that the Greek saga was more complex than casu.....people thought when they downplayed them to up the 2018 game. For me, it was much less about Tyr and more about really revisiting those things that happened in the originals.

only new fans think the early gow games had no story or emotion and werent complex. Id actually go out and say the early gow games were more complex story wise than the new ones, the new gow games walk you through the story while holding your hand to tell it to your face like your a child. the older gow games remind me of dark souls story telling, theres story in everything like the items, npcs, enemys you fight, order that things happen, and ofc gameplay and cutscenes but nowadays they have a literal character telling you to your face what the story was from the 1st gow game to the current one. its crazy to think that the new gow fans are such close minded weirdos that shrug young kratos off as just someone whos angry for no reason and killed a lot of people for no reason that they literally had to have tyr explain that he did it for a very good reason.

Another thing that I noticed was the parallels to going to actual therapy. Going to therapy often can feel like a repetitive process, just like the repetitive loop of a rogue like. Fighting with mental health often does feel like a battle. Helios represents the negative voices in our head that brings us down when we talk or think about our past. Tyr is obviously the therapist, often we "fight" against the therapist when they are trying to help us but they also offer insight into our traumas. So the parallels are very prominent
@CoolSaver7 ай бұрын

No tyr showed you a perspective about the old games you didn't see ,the games didn't change only your perspective
@naisagathefirstdestronmand85599 ай бұрын
This is entirely correct! I've been telling people that for years now. The old games are NOT complex. They touch upon things, and get you thinking but never explore those in the depth those topics need. But that's not to say they were bad games. It's just that story wasn't their focus. The game as a video game always came first. Now, the story is given a bit higher focus and now we are finally getting the depth the topics these games bring up needs. This DLC just helps people see the more complex aspects of the older games. Bringing up things that should've been brought up but were only lightly touched upon.

Tyr reminded me of a much better written Episode 8 Luke Skywalker. A man who strayed away from the normal traits of the jedi because of his force of nature. He purposely exiled himself after creating the very thing he feared the most… and when the “resistance” needed him the most… he vanished. Luke’s final act is similar in vein of Tyr by not being the passive old generation of jedi… but a peacekeeper who instills a better future by maintaining balance. He doesn’t “defeat” Kylo like we imagined with someone like Obi Wan… instead he undos the mistakes he once made and instills the best for Rey.

I was worried, GOW is about many things, but let's be real, killing gods and beasts are the selling points of the franchise, everytime something new about other lands comes into the surface, we all get excited as we can get with the possibilities of meeting new gods and monsters, to fight them... but in GOW ragnarok Kratos being so sad and avoiding conflict at all costs made me worried about the future, like, what would be a good reason to make him fight again? how would SM justify another pantheon being wiped out by Kratos since he is so terrified of killing gods now? and by finding this balance within himself I think it's fair to say that if it's for the right reason, he might fight again, I'm ready for the new god of war, not the one who is going to fight out of rage, not the one will refuse to fight out of regret, but the one who will do what he can for the good of the people, let the hero saga begins... let's do some good, let's meet some people, and let's kill some gods with no burden on our backs...
@TheNaturex208 ай бұрын
This. THIS is EXACTLY what I mean. Him simply just going to another pantheon and fucking things up would’ve been redundant story wise without a different purpose. The classics were the villain arc, the modern were the middle ground, and the future shall be the hero arc. The Anticipation had been restored for me

@@TheNaturex20 I also think norse gods were the perfect set up for this as they aren't as inrinsinctly linked to the world as the Greek pantheon was so like it allows more personal conflicts and that when ome of the gods do die not everything is messed up beyond repair
@Do0mSl4yer957 ай бұрын
@@TheNaturex20 I don't see the Greek saga as a villain arc at all. Zeus grew paranoid and mad which drove him to start killing people and he had to be taken down. That's not including how he also tormented Kratos' bloodline. Everyone who got in the way wasn't willing to exactly listen either. Kratos even gave Hercules and Hephaestus chances to live and they attacked him. Once Zeus was dead Kratos stopped his rampage and attempted to kill himself. The Greek saga is surprisingly polarizing I guess. It always seemed kind of apparent Kratos would be dragged into the next conflict. The thing that's a little strange about Ragnorok is technically Atreus, Freya, and Mimir instigated Kratos killing Odin for 2 whole games and I can't help but feel like there could be an extremely dark set up pending between The God of War and God of Mischief 🤔 either way, Loki plays a role in why Kratos returns in the next saga.

I love the last few lines in the very ending when Kratos talks to his younger self. I don't remember them perfectly but it's basically: "You're cruel and selfish, but you're more than that, you've always been more than what others saw" Fits both to his character and as a reflection of the original series as a whole, sure it was violent, all about the gameplay and brutality with less focus on story, despite that, the story and its themes always been there, it always had meaning, I hear often how people say "the norse games matured the franchise", and while I understand what they are trying to say, Kratos story in greece has always been, to me at least, one of a very well written tragedy, the greek and norse games will forever complete what each other had to say. One shows a path of revenge leading to destruction and loneliness, ending with a self sacrifice, and the other is a path of redemption and rebuilding, with the payoff of the hope that came with said sacrifice. Like some others pointed out, this DLC doesn't change the greek games, it only explores them more in depth, shows what's already been there on more perspectives.

tyr didn't just give kratos therapy. tyr gave ALL of us therapy. you get a man that is internally tough and thinks therapy is shit. get him hooked on god of war. have him try valhalla and he'll see that therapy ain't that bad.
@HSuper_Lee9 ай бұрын
Therapy isn't bad, but sometimes people need different kinds of therapy. I have a feeling a lot more men might find therapy helpful if it involved building something during the process.
@the_guy_with_a_shitty_mic41759 ай бұрын
Most therapy is bad bc most psychologists have no field experience. they just judge you off ur symptoms n give you meds. tyr actually been wjere kratos was and knows more about him through valhalla. teaches him with the only language he knows which is fighting mashed with wisdom@@HSuper_Lee

The thing is, videogames where killing everything in sight as violently as possible IS my therapy so when the game begins to lecture me on things it encouraged me to do at one point I find it pretentious. Also didn't appreciate the fact I was getting nerfed to give Tyr a chance while he got to use his whole kit and summon help 😅

I'm pretty sure that the first thing Kratos would have to deal with as the new god of war Is the bullshit the elves are always getting into with eachother. Like the 2018 game explicitly mentions that at this point, they just go to war because it's what they've always known. The only reason they cooperated in ragnarok Is because "get along or fucking die" isn't really a choice.

I know this is off topic,but you forgot to add 2 more things in your odin vs zeus video. You were supposed to add in who was the worst father and who had the better drip
@TheNaturex209 ай бұрын
Damn you’re right. I believe Odin has the superior drip, Zeus was pretty typical and was carried by his imposing physique But I think Zeus was the worst father (even tho Odin is not far) considering Zeus has wayyy more kids and don’t even interact with them. Odin be bullying Thor but at least that man is present I guess 🤣.
@DanielRodriguez-mc4bp9 ай бұрын
Zeus even when he was infected by the evil fear at least addressed kratos as his son. He cared enough for ares to bury him. The way odin addresses his sons comes off the way a commander addresses his soldiers and that's all his sons and everyone else was to him. He asked loki if he found anything noteworthy as if his son heimdall being dead wasn't noteworthy. To him he was simply another casualty. He even treated his own daughter-in-law like a soldier like it was normal. Also, zeus talked to athena in a gow novel so he did talk to his children just not that often

I havent been the biggest fan of the new series I admit, most of the time it feels like a game made by people who wanted to make a movie. However I do kind of appreciate what they tried to do here with the DLC having Kratos come to terms with what he did in Greece That said I think the best characterization of Kratos comes from the original series, more accurately the 2 PSP games and Ascension as those are the closest we come to seeing Kratos the human before Kratos the god. And how the attempts of the gods to make Kratos less human to better fit his role ended up turning him into the monster that brought about the destruction of the Greek pantheon

@thesilentsociety32529 ай бұрын
Loki’s search for the remaining Giants has a higher chance of putting him at odds with other pantheons, while Kratos is staying to help the realms rebuild. I think we will see Sigrun make a cameo in a future title given the events of Valhalla, Kratos without a doubt will return to Greece and that is where we will possibly get the father-and-son reunion
@Kjf3659 ай бұрын
I think that the green rift Odin was obsessed with will be the catalyst for future games. Atreus will come across more leads on it in his search for the giants (probably in his own spinoff game) and find out they are more important than he realized and ask Kratos for help in solving it all.
