@Maureen Stevens • Military analysts having been pointing out Russia's mistakes almost since the start of the invasion. The only failure they've fixed is to concentrate their forces. Russia still hasn't been able to solve its logistics problems, probably, at least in part, due to corruption. And you don't create a competent NCO Corps in a matter of months. Ukraine has been developing its corps since 2014 whereas Russia's military has stagnated. Russia's top-down leadership leads to the complaints we hear on intercepted phone calls with the problems with commanders. If you listen to the Ukrainians, they all knew their mission and that they weren't even part of the main attack. But Russia continues to make the same mistake of inadequate training. Neither Putin nor any of his generals grasp the difference in performance training makes. As long as Russia sends untrained troops to Ukraine, Russia will lose.

@@shahrahman4368 "lost four regions of their own mother land." What a really ignorant statement. How were they lost ? 1. Putin initiates aggressions and invades a county. 2. Then he drives out the citizens of the area fleeing from the war and destruction he is causing 3. Then He deliberately targets civilian men, women and children in the area that didn't flee to escape the war. 4. Then he deports and nationalists left to Russian gulags, so that hardly anyone is left. 5. Then he imports Russians and Russian loyalists into the area to populate the area with sympathizers. 6. The he hold a biased election that strongly favors a vote to become part of Russia and then declares the area to be Russian. 7. Then stupid people who cannot understand how crooked and dishonest this process is, say foolish things like " Ukraine lost four regions of their own land". Major problems with this kind of backwards thinking. 1. The people who think this way exhibit a lack of rational thinking skills. 2. The World does not recognize the legally dishonest land grab. The World recognizes those four regions as belonging to Ukraine. The only people who recognize this is Putin and his yes men. 3. The Big problem. Ukraine does not recognize the rigged, illegal process by which stupid Russians are claim the regions as their own; AND they are coming for their land with their hearts remembering the innocent civilians that Putin targeted and killed to take these lands of Ukraine from them. Ukriane is DETERMINED and does not intend to give up. AND presently, they are winning and Russian Troops are running. Even Putin is running to his little hideaway because of a coup attempt. Has Putin ever visited his troops, giving their lives for his fascist ambitions. "What a hero ?" No ! Putin is no hero; he is just a coward. (Note: President Zelensky visits his troops on the front often to encourage and praise their progress) Funny I don't hear you bragging about Russian forces being right outside Kyiv Oh wait ! That right they could not take the city and were forced to retreat. Funny you don't speak of the advances of the Ukrainian forces on the fronts. Oh, Ukraine would like to thank Putin for donating all those tanks, armaments and ammunitions to the Ukrainian war effort against Russian forces. Because of all the military hardware and munitions the fleeing Russian soldiers left behind when they deserted their posts and ran, Russia has become the greatest provider of military hardware and munitions to the Ukrainian forces of all the nations of the world. Many Thanks to Russia for greatly aiding the cause of defeating Russia by your very generous donations. Be Well, DZ

Old Soviet tank design was small, fast, reliable, cheap. The tanks carries limited number of round of main gun ammo because the life expectancy was measured in hours and exchange ratio of 3 to 1 would be ok. NATO tanks carry 40-50 round range, Russian carry 20-30 rounds. Israeli Merkava can carry over 90. The Israeli expect their tanks to live and outright the enemy against 10 to 1 odds or worse. There battle field experience show this and they held.
@Killerpixel11
@Killerpixel11 Жыл бұрын
The "problem" isn't that they lack ammo, it's the tank design. The T-72 has an autoloader that only carries 22 rounds. There's some more storage in the hull, but manual reloading isn't really a thing unless it's an absolute emergency. So they have to pull back, top up the autoloader and go in again. Western armies don't use autoloaders (which are bulky) in their MBT, which gives them one additional crewmember and more space for ammo that is manually reloaded.

The further the Ukrainians get away from Soviet/Russian way of warfare. The more successes they achieve. Tanks supported by infantry… very alien to Russians. But that’s how modern warfare is. Look, the Russians had their own ATGMs but couldn’t stop the Ukrainians. Meanwhile, Ukrainians using Stugna-Ps, NLAWs & Javelins… highly effective.

We can't forget that russia actually sent their best-trained troops in these "special operations" (most of which are dead or wounded by now) and also sent and used their best equipment. So there is a huge win for Ukraine for not losing this war and surrendering in the beginning, but what they (Ukrainian solders) archived during this ongoing counter-offensive is simply breathtaking in every aspect, and we can see that in russias reaction (mobilization, threatening nuclear strikes etc.). Every time russia threatens with use of nuclear strikes is an admission that they are losing this war.

As, presumably, a westerner I think it's hard to quite understand how that feels. Now that they are being called to the frontlines and face the reality of dying, those 15 years in jail don't seem so bad and now you do see how many are actually against this senseless war with how many are leaving the country and shooting recruitment centers.

@@Nubbe999 I read an interview recently with the UKR Army Chief of Staff who mentioned the disastrous performance of the UKR forces in 2014-15 in Donbas led to the embrace of Western military thinking and training. He concluded a Soviet style army that Ukraine fielded in 2014 would not be able to defeat a larger Russian army with identical top down control and tactics. The learning curve was short and brutal for Ukraine (they essentially lost and the war became a stalemate) in 2014-15. But they spent the next 7 years preparing for this 2022 war with Russia intending to beat them. So far the change in tactics has worked much better than most of us expected.

The tank commander surveying the field with a drone while staying in a safe location is the best thing to do, not only is he safe but he is seeing the battle in real time with his own eyes allowing him to make snap decisions as the battle conditions change. Then infantry, armor, and artillery working as a unit is the modern way of using tanks, a support vehicle rather than Russia's WWII use of tanks working alone. @@LadyAnuB They also have an awful command structure and troops who are afraid of being shot or jailed for retreating. Western and Ukrainian troops operate under a set of battle guidelines that enable them to operate independenly of command structure when disconnected. Things like retreat when surrounded or disadvantaged unless command tells you otherwise. Where as if a commander loses contact with a russian unit they lack the training and authority to change the plan without permission from command. @Cydonius1 On the other hand, Abrams has to be loaded manually. It's also a bigger tank overall which makes it easier to hit. NATO vs Warsaw Pact tank design philosophy was very different and I don't think there's necessarily a point in comparing them because they are like apples vs oranges.

@@Tmb1112 To be fair if anything Ukrainian Military showed that they are perfectly capable of quick adjustments and fast-pace education when it comes new tech. The main thing for USA for example was that they have been gearing themselves for war with Russia and now they get to test the technolgy 1 by 1. Ukrainian Military has been active for a while, at current moment outside of USA Ukraine has probably one of the most efficient and battle tested units. I agree everything takes time, and business is business. But we shouldn't be afraid of giving Ukraine even the most modern tech. From American perspective there wont be another chance to see how this shit works against one of the Worlds Biggest Bully. Furthermore it's another evidence of how well was the Tech designed. If it is to convoluted for Professional Military in Ukraine it might be to convoluted for Americans 2.

@@fmspjanus Modernisation is a long process, especially in war, since the crews and engineers have to adapt to the differences in design and operation in order to run effectively. Its why Poland, Czechia and other Eastern European nations have been throwing their old Soviet equipment at Ukraine. Obviously, 7 months in, modern weapons are bearing fruit - HIMARS systems have been instrumental in damaging Russian logistics and softening the front for offensives. Modern tanks are a whole new beast though, and something the old guard of the army would need to be eased into gradually
@fmspjanus

@@johnroach9026 Completely agree, but one has to have something in order to learn. So we can speculate how long would it take for one to learn enough to be more efficient on new tech rather than using old and "reliable". Even Ukrainians themselves at first would like to fight with what they are used to. Still if they don't get it, they will never learn therefore we also never learn. A lot of the stuff that USA sends to Ukraine is stuff particularly designed against Soviet Union and it was never used. It's insane how professional and motivated Ukrainian military makes it look like it's duck hunting when they get modern toys. That without even talking about massive cooperation between inteligence and military that is happening all around Europe + USA. As it is right now, if it benefits Ukraine, It benefits World Peace.
