@@NoeRodriguez-wv2gg no they don't qualify for assistance, here in California or if you are sponsored or have a born in America child they only qualify for the child for food stamps no cash aid only the child gets medical before everyone without documentation qualified for emergency medical know they don't. So no they don't qualify for assistance they usually go to like charity or churches that give out food or even the schools have the afterschool programs the kids get to eat before they go home. The lowest paying job here in California is the grape even at that they still go out and do that work. Hope this gave you a little bit of knowledge.

I think this problem we're having right now nationwide is actually sparking more discussion on AI and automated farming and this entire argument for keeping our illegal immigrants will change in short time. If the government already contracts with farmers, why not have them provide farmers with the necessary automated tools and machines that are already in play elsewhere? Yes, immigrants may be here illegally to farm our food for us but like any job, it comes and goes. While the US did turn a blind eye these past 60 years, those who choose to be lawless always risk the chance that someday someone will uphold the law. Trump is not the bad guy here. He's upholding the US Federal law where Biden and every POTUS before him chose to ignore it.

The problem we have with illegal immigration now is due to 40 years of not enforcing the 1986 immigration reform and control act as is law. Government turned a blind eye so I guess we'll see what it looks like in the future now that government is suddenly compliant with its own rules and regulations. It definitely should spark discussion on new innovative ways to farm but illegal immigration will never be the solution. It never was. The failure of the Bracero program demonstrated it.

I have conducted research on US immigration policy for over 45 years including teaching at Mexican universities for 2 years and testifying before US Civil Rights and Immigration Commissions. The problem is that the current narrative assumes that immigration policy is "broken." NO! This is exactly the policy that various stakeholders have negotiated since the Great Repatriation movement of the the 1930s. Farmers don't want to pay the costs of processing, housing and higher pay of undocumented workers. Many Legal farm workers eventually have families in US and eventually seek higher and more stable employment in nonagricultural sectors. Farmers want to keep wages as low as possible and are happy to work with local police to deport workers when they are not needed or seek to unionize. These policies include repatriation movements with National Guard during the 1930s and 1950s. Now, with shortage of skilled blue collar workers with higher educational attainment, the list of hard to fill occupations due to wages depressed by employing immigrant and undocumented workers has increased the demand for more undocumented workers. CONSEQUENTLY, the system is NOT broken. It has evolved to make the US economy more competitive and resilient--largely on the backs of the most vulnerable immigrant workers and their families. And, remember, the US Border Patrol was established to keep out Chinese and Japanese workers--not the cyclical migration of Mexican workers.
