WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2007 was a massive one for me, it did set the tone for the kind of music I'd love as a teenager. But at 17 I got introduced to Radiohead, and my tastes have gotten pretty insane over the years. I listen to anyone from Teddy Pendergrass to Igorrr

I felt so called out with GTA and WWE games, because along with Devil May Cry (which didn't have music in the same sense, it was more score technically) that's literally where 90% of my fav songs and genres, or, rather, overall came out. I still listen to the songs that I got from those games. Vice City is still branded in my head as PEAK music in videogames. It was so epic at the time. (And awesome video, loved it, keep it up :D!)

I wonder if there’s a correlation with age too, does it have a stronger influence when you’re younger? Or maybe if there’s an emotional connection? So many potential factors! Dance Dance Revolution was one game that heavily influenced my taste. I still have Everytime We Touch by Cascada on rotation. I will say, I’m not sure if the minecraft soundtrack counts based on your definition, but to me that is one of the most iconic tracks to my childhood. Great video!

I always played sports games and still do. NBA2K13 and NBA2K14 were some of my favorites. I don’t think it really shaped my music taste but what do I know. I discovered The Beatles in 8th grade and instantly fell in love. From there I found more artists like Billy Joel, and David Bowie. My friend introduced me to Queen. Then I discovered a lot more in Classic Rock. Still those soundtracks from those games are pure nostalgia for me.

Since you're american, I assume you're not familiar with what I'm about to say but man, kid me didn't know how much the soundtracks for Pro Evolution 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 would influence my taste. So many great indie bands from the late 2000s were featured in those games. 2011 personally probably has my favorite licensed soundtrack from any video-game. Not only it has music from bands like Phoenix, Vampire Weekend and Crystal Castles but it also has some great non-english songs as well. Nice video, by the way. Can't believe you don't even have 100 subscribers

You're correct in assuming that my democracy brain cannot handle the concept of pro evolution, but I can tell you that I relate to finding phenomenal indie bands from sports games. Actually kind of wish games in the US featured more non english songs tbh.

Very weird how the games you mentioned were also equally apart of my childhood, down to calling out "Surrender" by Cheap Trick, AKA the only song on Guitar Hero I felt comfortable playing on a difficulty higher than Easy.

Got way into games in general two years ago, and got into watching cosplay, which led me to somebody with a Fall Out Boy song in the background. Fast forward to now and they've been my top artist on spotify for two years in a row, they were my first concert, I'm literally wearing the shirt I got at that concert as I type this, my band does one (maybe two? One of them is a bit iffy) of their songs, I've sang one of their songs for a school thing, I've done one at like two different solo open mics, and I know just over 70 of their songs. Not exactlyyy what you're talking about here, but yeah, video games to music taste pipeline ig. And I use guitar hero to practice my band's paramore song so that counts for something.

You actually remind me that I forgot to mention in the video that I know tons of drummers that learn drums on Rock Band and Guitar Hero games. I fiddle around on guitar and I think Guitar Hero lended itself to helping me develop different rhythms

@@JerryBees that makes a lot of sense! It helps me with keeping longer notes even in pitch, and with hearing cues for timing (although a karaoke track could do that too - but that’s not as fun lol)

I only know of the groups Reggie & The Full Effect and Brick & Lace specifically because of PSP Sims 2 & Sims 2 Castaway respectively Both which i still play and listen to to this day ♡ so you are not wrong with the Sims part tho Take me Home by RaTFE is a banger both in English and Simlish

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1-4 + underground 1 and 2 got me into Ska, Hip hop, all kinds of stuff. Great games with great soundtracks. GTA Vice City also had some amazing 80s music, and San Andreas had good gangsta rap. I kinda miss those days when a soundtrack was just in the game, but I guess it's more convenient to just put on spotify while playing stuff.

One of the first videogames I played ever was Guitar Hero III. It was recent at the time and I was very young, 5 at best. That game laid the foundation for my music taste nowadays, which developed from the songs on the game, to moving away from rock for a while, until I found my favorite band: Jinjer, which are progressive metalcore. I thank Guitar Hero III because without it I wouldn't like Jinjer, Meshuggah and Periphery nowadays. Also, great video!

I'm with you on being a rock boy, but, I gotta say, the NBA Street Vol. 2 soundtrack really helped shape my taste in what I like for hip hop. It might just be the greatest hip hop soundtrack ever assembled for a video game. Likewise, wrestling games definitely influenced my taste as well. I'm very partial to the original SmackDown vs RAW because it has a ton of Powerman 5000 on it.

Never got my hands on NBA Street. It was always one of those things that people told me was great but never got around to it. Much like saving money and going to the dentist every six months.

I was playing wrestling games, but in fairness they didn't get me into the music. The WRESTLING got me into the music. Jim Johnston was making bangers for years before the games.

every old offroad Racing game that i´ve played like Mx vs Atv have licensed songs and Thanks to these games i'm LESS likely to Listen the average Songs from Modern Anime for me the licensed songs from those games are better than the average songs from Japanese Hack and Slash games like Cringe Gear Rising or Devil May Cringe 5 xD because for me the memes ruined these songs While kids from the 2010s are Listening Bury the light, the Only thing i know for Real and the stains of Time, i born on the early 2000s and I prefer to Listen Cold From Crossfade, Guarded from Disturbed and In this Legacy from Monty are i.
