The U.S Navy aviation have it own Wild Weasle, called Iron hand during the Vietnam war, they employed A4 skyhawk and A7 Corsairs single seator with AGM 45 shrikes, an A 6 Intruder twin seators handle AGM 78 Standard Missiles with an fully memory chip and AGM 45 semi memory chip, interesting to know that the U.S Airforce is using a single seator for Wild weasle roles inside of the twin seators with a EWO back seators.

"Flight of the Intruder"is great movie, it's the Top Gun equivalent to strike aircraft. The Iron Hand scene in the movie is a hair raising one.
@bjornsmith94319 күн бұрын
@keko-jones540 Flight of the Intruder is the best film on the air war over North Vietnam Linebacker I and II. The scene Iron Hand Mission is the only one in movies describing this type of mission .

I remember reading that book a few years ago. There's an anecdote he tells on a chapter, where he gets dragged into an anti-war protest in Spain. It so cringy, I cringe everytime I think about it lol. Sounds like the kind of story the editor would add up just cause it sounds "cool", lol loads of bs. Great video as usual Showtime, thanks for the great content, cheers.

Hello mate, i think F16CJ block50 was not delivered. In 1991 it was F16 Block 30 or 32 working by pair with F4G. Now maybe some CJ or CM where based in Aviano AB, Italy.
@showtime1129 күн бұрын
Yes, those F-16s in Incirlik were Block 30s, this is an approximation. Also, the Phantom in this video is F-4E but the front cockpit is almost the same.

The premium EW airframe was the USN/USMC EA6-A and the follow on EA6-B Prowlerwith 4 crew members including 3 ECMO (electronic counter measure officer) and one aviator flying. The follow on became the EA18-G only one ECMO whose workload was reduced by improved electronics. At some point in the 90’s the USAF turned the EW mission over to the USN EW Squadrons. One mission they had during Iraqi Freedom was flying over supply routes and blocking the signaling devices used for IED’s. They proved very effective

Another excellent video. I wonder how the tactics would be when the stealthy F-35s take over, ie, how they're going to entice the radars to lock on them. But, then again, I don't know how the RCS of an F-35 when they have external ordnances hanging under their wings.

Thank you so much! I'm not quite sure about how F-35 SEAD missions might look like. The technology seems to provide certain advantages, that's for sure. There are some interesting episodes in the podcast '10 Percent True' with Starbaby, a former F-4G WSO. He gives plenty of interesting info on WW operations.

People get all hot about dogfighting. For me, SAAD and CAS are where it's done.
@showtime1129 күн бұрын
Yeah, dogfighting gets all the attention but this is often far more dangerous. Many air-to-air kills are simply about spotting the enemy first and attacking unseen. SAMs usually see you first.

Love it Showtime Video suggestion: some of the BVR air-to-air kills scored by Su-35S's and MiG-31BM's during the Russo Ukrainian War. The Russian MOD has lied through their teeth about many things, but oddly specifically, the BVR air-to-air kills are largely open source verifiable. This could hurt viewership because of the inability to separate historical documentaries from feelings and emotions, but just a suggestion I throw out there

It is good you make videos not just about dogfights but also about bombing missions because it shows the skills and sacrifice that pilots made in the service of their countries. It's like the saying in the movie Flight of the Intruder: “Fighters pukes make movies, bomber pilots make history!” (32m:40s) If you chose to continue making videos about the Wild Weasels in the Gulf War a good mission would be the January 18th mission of Captain Tim Burke, and Electronic Warfare Officer, Captain Juan Galindez, when their F-4G crashed after being hit by Iraqi air defenses. If you chose to return to dogfights a great idea would be the dogfight of Capt. Anthony “E.T.” Murphy or Capt. Don “Muddy” Watrous. It would make great episodes. But we will just have to wait for the southern map to be released. Is there an ETA when this will happen? Are you going to return to making videos about the Israeli F-4 Phantoms? I would love to see a video about the War of Attrition. Remember, your objective is to make the videos just like the Dogfights series from the History Channel. That is what you're doing: gaining experience and perfecting your knowledge and skills with each video you post. Keep up the good work!
